I
t’s barely a month to go before the year
draws to a close and at ERC every divi
sion is still beating the deadlines. De-
spite all the year-end rush, ERC employees
are looking forward to a well-deserved break
from all the pressures of work. And for 2003,
this break comes in the form of the Christ-
mas Celebration slated on Friday the 19th.

Commissioner Alcordo completes the
Roster of Commissioners
C
ommissioner Jesus N. Alcordo was
appointed by her Excellency, Presi-
dent Gloria Macapagal Arroyo
(PGMA) as Energy Regulatory Commission
(ERC) Commissioner on September 09, 2003.
Commissioner Alcordo is an engineer by
profession and a very successful business-
man and executive specializing in the en-
ergy field. He was President of the National
Power Corporation (NPC) before he joined
the ERC. Comm. Alcordo replaced Commis-
sioner Mary Ann B. Colayco following the
latter’s decision to concentrate on her
family’s business.
ERC Chairman Manuel R. Sanchez
lauds Comm. Alcordo’s acceptance of
PGMA’s appointment. “It is an honor work-
ing with a brilliant man. ERC will greatly
benefit from Alcordo’s 42 years of sterling
domestic and international experience”, the
Chairman said.
Comm. Alcordo finished his Bachelor’s
degree in Chemical Engineering at the Uni-
versity of San Carlos in 1961 and completed
an intensive Executive Program in Business
Administration at the Columbia University
in New York in 1975.
Comm. Alcordo is the oversight Com-
missioner of the Planning and Information
Service.

Sanchez hopes to replicate this experience
in other regions of the country.
To date, PHILRECA and NAGMEC have
total membership of at least twelve electric
cooperatives in Region 10. Among them are
Agusan de Norte Electric Cooperative, Inc.
(ANECO), Bukidnon I Electric Cooperative,
Inc. (FIBECO) and Camiguin Electric Coop-
erative, Inc. (CAMELCO).
