Guide to activities.
1. The Community Trade Fair and Health Fair (Saturday 14thJune, 1-4pm,
School Square if sunny, in school if not !
This year the stalls and activities include stalls (community groups, cake & candy, tombola, meccano models
& model trains, plants, quiz, jewelry, stained glass, face painting, balloon creatures, fire engine, fair trade
products. There will also be a professional photographer to take family portraits. Activities include
toddlers’ bouncy castle, crafts, bungee stretching, gymnastics, sunflower planting, PAINT a PUPPY
competition (you can paint it beforehand if you would rather and bring it with you). There will be food
(tea from India, pizza from Italy and hotdogs & popcorn from USA.). We have a fantastic raffle, with the
generous support of the shops and businesses in town and around.
At the same time there will be a Health Fair where you can try your skills on a “bendy bike”, pedal a
“smoothie bike”, partake of freshly squeezed orange juice, have your blood pressure checked (and your
tyre pressure if you are going on Sunday’s Tour d’Auchterarder Bike Run! – bring your bike to the bike
2. Dog Show (Saturday 14th June)
New this year ! IF the day is sunny and the Fair is outside in the square, bring your dog to the entrance
of the school square just before 3pm and you will be directed to the “show ground”. 4 optional categories
(waggiest tail, cutest face, fastest sausage eater and best sit to command). Entry Fee - donation to
P.A.D.S. Bones to be won! Please do not bring your dog if he doesn’t get on with other dogs, please scoop
up after your dog (bags will be available) and once the show is over take your dog home (not back to the
square). May the best dog win ! IF it is raining and the fair is inside, THERE WILL BE NO DOG SHOW.
3. The Olympic Fun Run (Saturday 14th June, starts 12:30pm)
Usual time and route (from the public park to the school square). Arrive in time to register (£1). This
year you are invited to do the run either in a costume or a hat in line with the theme “Countries of the
World” – so start working on a wacky hat now ! (and one for your mum and dad). There will be prizes for
the best costume/hat.
4. Tour D’Auchterarder Bike Run (Sunday 15th, earlier start time this year 2pm)
Remember equal with having fun, SAFETY is the top priority. Remember, the roads are NOT CLOSED and
you must keep in to the left at all times. There will be marshals to remind you. Helmets are compulsory.
No pre-registration this year – register on the day only – so arrive 1:30pm in time to register.
5. Picnic in the Park (Sunday 15th)
We have an expanded event this year with a barbecue and activities (games and bouncy castles) from 2pm.
We are delighted to welcome at 3pm (when the cyclists will have arrived) Perth College Samba Band
(Rhthym Wave) who will be playing for us (a week ahead of their appearance at Glastonbury). At around
4pm we will finish off with mini-Olympics for children & grown-ups. All this is of course weather
dependent, though we will have two sturdy marquees who will afford some shelter, at least till you have
eaten your burger and listened to the band ! Let’s hope for a sunny day !
