Reed K eppler Park July 9-12, & Natio 2009 Arbor RAILROAD DAYS PARADE West C nal Stree hicago t Dear Parade Enthusiast, The West Chicago Chamber and the Railroad Days Committee is proud to be Hosting the 37th Annual Railroad Days Parade, The theme of this year’s parade is “IF I COULD DREAM...” Railroad Days Parade is Sunday, July 12th at 1:00 p.m. As an added incentive for all of you Float Builders, the West Chicago Parade committee has agreed to provide float judging; prizes will be awarded in a variety of categories. Heritage Award-(Youth Group/Organization with the most enthusiasm & spirit), Turner Award-(the most unique,creative, and understanding of a business and or organization), and the Grand Marshal Award-(best float that demonstrates the parades theme). The parade will assemble at 12:00 Noon, step-off time is 1:00 p.m. sharp! The parade route is about 1 mile in length. Attached you will find an application and parade guidelines/rules which all participants must follow. Please complete the application and return it with a BRIEF NARRATIVE describing your group and/or entry by JUNE 19, 2009 to the address below. We have limited space and budget so those submitting early will receive top priority. WWW.WESTCHICAGOCHAMBER.COM Reed K eppler Park July 9-12, & Natio 2009 Arbor PARADE GUIDELINES & RULES West C nal Stree hicago t GUIDELINES (a) The parade will step off promptly at 1:00 p.m. from the corner of Ingalton and Elmwood Ave. All parade units must assemble at the assigned starting locations by 12:00 Noon. Parade participants that are not in their assigned parade formation 15 minutes before kick off will not participate and asked to leave (no exceptions). (b) Line-up positions will be determined by the parade committee, we will attempt to accommodate requests, as is possible based upon special needs. (Not everyone can be in the front of the parade!) (c) Units in the parade should attempt to maintain even spacing not to exceed 20 feet between entries. (Please advise us if special spacing is required). Motor vehicles must be operated in a responsible manner. (d) "Antique" vehicle entries must be 25 years or older. Newer model vehicle entries will be limited to 10 vehicles at the discretion of the parade committee. (e) Animal Entries: ALL ANIMAL ENTRIES MUST PROVIDE THEIR OWN CLEAN-UP CREW! (f) Those that are requesting an Honorarium MUST check in at Turner School (750 Ingalton Ave., West Chicago, IL. 60185) between 11:00 AM - NOON). Parade units that ARE NOT requesting a Honorarium DO NOT have to check in at Turner School. Your parade unit can immediatley go to your assigned street position and your unit will be checked in by a block captain. RULES (1) The use or possession of ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES by participants in the parade is PROHIBITED. NO SMOKING IS ALLOWED IN THE PARADE. (2) Due to past problems, the use of all water devices is prohibited. (3) HANDOUTS: (a) Items to be distributed during the parade MUST BE APPROVED IN ADVANCE by parade committee. Please note on application what you will be distributing keeping in mind that these items often end up in the hands of small children. (b) Approved items should be HANDED OUT, NOT THROWN. For your and especially the children’s safety we ask to walk along side the curb when distributing approved items. (We don’t want children running into the street in front of parade vehicles.) *Please note that any violation(s) with the rules and guidelines will result in excluding your participation with future Railroad Days parades or your immediate removal from the parade.
