Faithfulness of Christ, Faithfulness of Priests
Pope Benedict XVI declared a “Year for Priests” that began June 19, 2009 and will conclude in Rome with an international gathering of priests with the Holy Father on June 19, 2010. With the announcement of the Year for Priests, the Pope has declared St. John Vianney the Universal Patron of Priests on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the death of the Curé d’Ars. There are 408,000 priests in the world. Pope Benedict has called for this time to be a year for prayer and sanctification for all priests. Cardinal Hummes, prefect of the Congregation for Clergy writes, “May it be a year of public celebration which will bring the people to pray, to reflect and to celebrate and justly to give honor to their priests.” We, at Holy Family and St. Mary’s Parishes are so blessed to have Father Laible and Father Pham with their constant prayers, love, comfort and support for us. LUCKY SIX DRAWING IS UPCOMING!
The next Lucky Six drawing will take place on Friday, July 17, at 6:30 pm, at the K of C Hall. The Knights of Columbus will have basket dinners with a choice of Walleye/Shrimp/Chicken Strips/Catfish Fillet(new item), with basket including potatoes and slaw. You could be one of the next winners of the Lucky Six drawings but you will never have a chance unless you purchase your (March 2009-February 2010) ticket(s) at Holy Family Parish Office, Carroll Catholic School, Dick Logan Auto Care, Family Custom Cleaners, Heads R Turning, Knights of Columbus Hall, Lincolnland Communications, Neal Tire Company or Stacy’s Family Pharmacy. Stop by the Parish Office to pick up tickets to sell on your own and become eligible to win $50 for each winning ticket you sell. The Holy Family Food Pantry is asking that you bring with you to Mass, each Sunday, a food staple (fruit, macaroni & cheese, vegetable, soup, cereal, etc.) to help replenish the pantry shelves. A shopping cart will be in the vestibule for your convenience. We will continue to have Food Sunday (fourth Sunday of each month) for those who regularly give monthly to the food pantry. Thank you for all your past support.

SCRIPTURE SHARING: An opportunity to break open the Word; an opportunity to meet new people takes place each Wednesday morning at the Religious Education Center at 9:30. Come join us for prayer, fellowship and reflection. We study the readings for the upcoming Sunday. EUCHARISTIC ADORATION is held each Thursday (see times listed under the weekly Mass schedule) with the Divine Mercy Chaplet Meditation recited at 7 pm.

Bringing Christ to the Hospitalized, Nursing Home Residents and Homebound!
Do you know any Catholic homebound, nursing home resident or hospital patient who would like to receive Holy Communion? Please call the Parish Office at 732-4019 if you, or someone you know, is in the hospital, in a nursing home or is homebound. Health Care facilities, by law, are not allowed to give out that information without the consent of the patient/resident.

There is a great choice of Catholic reading materials including daily meditation & scripture booklets and several magazines with excellent articles. These materials are free to you. However, if you wish to make a donation, envelopes are inserted in the display stands for this purpose.
Outstanding Educator
Zachary Stacy, son of Bruce and Cindy Stacy, has been chosen as the Outstanding Educator of the Year at St. Louis School of Pharmacy. Both the faculty and students nominated Zachary. Congratulations to Zachary and his parents!

News has reached us that Andre DeMeulemeester, father of Father Patrick DeMeulemeester, passed away on Monday, July 6. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Mary’s Church, 1906 13th Street, East Moline, IL, on Friday, July 10, 2009, at 11 am. Visitation will be at VanHoe Funeral Home, 1500 6th Street, East Moline, IL, on Thursday, July 9, from 4-7 pm with the rosary at 6:30 pm. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, East Moline, IL. Consider Adoption!
Catholic Charities will host an Adoption Orientation on July 14 and 21. This two-part orientation will assist participants in developing an understanding of the process of Domestic Infant Adoption as well as help them explore their adoption options. The orientation will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, in Bloomington, and will begin at 6:00. From the abyss of my nothingness, I adore You. I thank You for all the graces which You have bestowed upon me, particularly for having given me Yourself in this Sacrament, for having given my Your most holy Mother Mary for my advocate, and for having called me to visit You in this church. I pay my homage to Your most loving Heart for these three ends: 1) in thanksgiving for this great Gift; 2) to make amends to You for all the outrages which You do receive in this Sacrament from all Your enemies; 3) I intend by this visit to adore You in all the places on earth in which You are present in this Sacrament and in which You are the least honored and the most abandoned.
