NEW at Northfield
Thank you for such a warm welcome to Northfield Racquet and Fitness Club. I am very much enjoying getting settled in at Northfield. I consider group fitness to be one of my specialties and I’ve spent nearly twenty-four years perfecting the presentation, administrating it’s structure and creating opportunity for new, exciting, and challenging fitness regimes. In short order, my observations bring to conclusion that the Northfield membership base strongly supports the benefits of muscle conditioning, and has a tremendous following in their SPYN programming. In an effort to advance and upgrade your current exercise selections, we are not taking away, but adding to the current programming. Northfield members, just like any other members, need effective options. Options that utilize all energy systems and produce results with the least amount of work, in the shortest period of time. Time is precious and results are the goal. Calorie expenditure and body compensation changes occur as much (if not more) after the class, as it does during the class. EPOC or the after burn as it is sometimes referred to, is largely affected by how we train. So we need to train smart. Intelligent workouts are about choices to maximize the benefits of your investment into fitness. Gone are the days of lengthy workouts. Quite frankly, it’s all about vanilla ice-cream. Many of us enjoy vanilla ice cream and we do not aspire to try any other ice cream. However, some more adventurous folks have tried chocolate ice cream, and they now realize that chocolate ice cream is even better than vanilla. Their willingness to experiment provided them with new pleasure and benefits. New fitness programs or classes are much the same way. Many members are comfortable with their current programs, and truthfully comfort and physical conditioning should never be used in the same sentence. By virtue of what conditioning is, we all need to address change and be experimental in our approach to fitness. Fitness is relative to what you have tried, BUT guaranteed there is always something else you haven’t tried that will challenge your perspective on how fit you really are. Running successful programming is a two-way exchange and it unfolds at many different levels. Instructor to member...instructor to management..member to member...and member to management. Regardless of how or to whom it is spoken to, the end result is a desire for change. The coming months will bring about change in various programs. How we get there will in some respects revolve around your willingness to be responsible with communicating your ideas and desires. Let’s work together in our efforts to advance balance in our health and wellness initiatives. My email at Marilee@northfieldclub.com is at your disposal. Please contact me with any concerns. With great thanks—Marilee Arthur—your NEW Fitness Director
