ROCKRIDGE CANYON INFO LETTER

Congratulations! Your child is confirmed for the week of June 27 – July 1 at Young Life’s RockRidge Canyon in British Columbia. We are very excited about our trip to this incredible Young Life property. This letter details information about your child’s trip that will hopefully provide answers to some of your pressing questions. You will also find some enclosures which need to be completed and returned to the Young Life office by June 15th. If you have questions that this letter does not answer, please don’t hesitate to contact us and we’ll be happy to help.
BALANCE DUE – In the upper right-hand corner of this letter you’ll find your balance due. Please send this to the Young Life office by June
15th. Please make checks payable to YOUNG LIFE and include your child’s name and “RockRidge” in the memo section of your check so that we can be sure to apply it correctly.
PRE-CAMP MEETING – On June 22nd from 7-8pm there will be a mandatory informational meeting for all campers at the Rutledges’
house (1601 Grand Ave.). Parents are welcome to attend.
DEPARTURE – We will be leaving from Top Foods parking lot (1605 SW Everett Mall Way) at 8:30 AM on June 27th. We need to leave
on time so please arrive by 8:00 AM to check in and to load your luggage.
RETURN – We will return to Top Foods around 4:00 PM on July 1st. Please arrange for transportation accordingly. We suggest arranging
for your student to call on the way home with our exact arrival time, as slight delays are possible. Leader’s cell phones will be available for your child’s use.
CONTACT – If you need to contact someone at RockRidge Canyon, please call the camp office at (250) 295-0015. Because of the remote mountain location, cell phones will likely not get service; students should not plan on calling home during their stay unless there is an urgent need, in which case a phone will be made available to them. HEALTH FORMS – RockRidge Canyon has a medical facility and a medical professional on the property at all times to handle any incidents
that might occur. To assist them and to alert us to any special needs, please fill out the enclosed health form so that we have your child’s medical history and insurance information. A doctor’s physical is not needed for this particular camp. Please return this form to the Young Life office by June 15th.
BORDER CROSSING – It’s very important that your child provide proof of citizenship and parent permission in order to cross the
U.S./Canadian border. Proof of citizenship would include either a passport OR a combination of birth certificate and Photo ID. A driver’s license alone does not prove citizenship; it must be accompanied by a copy of their birth certificate. Please send a copy of your child’s birth certificate, together with the enclosed Border Crossing Consent form, to the Young Life office by June 15th.
WHAT TO BRING
Photo I.D. or passport Spending money for lunch on the way home and to make purchases at the camp stores. Pack a sack lunch for the 6-hour trip to RockRidge. Casual clothes – It’s hot during the day, and can get chilly in the evenings. One set of dark clothes that can get dirty & wet. An outfit for the “80s” themed dinner party. Sport-appropriate swim suit. Sandals for the rocky walk between pool and cabins. Close-toed shoes for other activities (required). Sunscreen and water bottle. RockRidge Canyon is often very hot. Linens are provided, including towels and bedding; however, you may want an extra towel for the pool and lake.
