teachers and Consultants as Adjunct Teachers giving
them opportunities to deliver lectures as well as to show
demonstrations in clinical field in various affiliated
colleges of MUHS

                       Appointment of adjunct teachers
Preamble:-           It is said that, sorrow lessens and knowledge increases if we share it with
              others. As per this saying there are many eminent professional experts in the
              medical field who want to share their experience and knowledge with others by way
              of teaching to students in the institutes or colleges.
                     For hunting this Expertise of the Experts, University has decided to search
              eminent professional practitioners or retired well-known teachers and give them
              opportunities by way of appointing them as adjunct teachers in the colleges, for
              contributing their knowledge, experience as well as difficulties faced by them while
              working in the clinics / hospitals.

Rules and Regulations for appointment of adjunct teachers:-

        1A)            Affiliated colleges or University Departments or Research Institutes may
              recommend renowned practitioners in medical field or renowned teachers or any
              well known persons who are working in medical research and also having 5 years or
              more experience in their field with their Post Graduate qualifications and medical
              practitioners / teaching / research experience etc. to the University in prescribed
              format which is available on University website. The consent from the person
              applying for adjunct teacher and NOC from present organization should be obtained
              without affecting day to day duties.

        1B)            The persons who have got experience of practice in medical field or who
              have got teaching experience as an approved Lecturer / Asso. Professor / Professor
              in affiliated colleges or University departments or recognized institutions will be
              eligible to apply suo-moto to the University Authorities.
                       These persons and also whose names are recommended by the affiliated
              colleges, shall be classified as Lecturer, Asso. Professor & Professor as follows:-
              i) Teaching / Practicing Experience of 5 years will be classified as Adjunct Lecturer.
              ii) Teaching / Practicing Experience of 10 years will be classified as Adjunct Asso.
                 Professor.
              iii) Teaching / Practicing Experience of 15 years and above will be classified as
                 Adjunct Professor.

        2)             The person whose name is recommended shall have / who has applied
              suo-moto shall have:-
              i) Acquired Post Graduate Degree.
              ii) Minimum 5 years practicing experience if he does not possess requisite teaching
                   experience.
              iii) Teaching experience shall not be compulsory however, preference will be given
                   to the person having teaching experience and in addition to the above [(i) to (iii)].
                   The person will be given preference if he has got.
              iv) Paper publications, research work under project / in individual capacity.
          3)            Procedure for selection of adjunct teachers:-
               i) The names of the teachers recommended by the University Departments colleges
                    and Institutes and / or the names of the teachers who have applied suo-moto
                    shall be placed before the Peer Committee appointed by the Academic Council.
                    The Peer Committee of Academic Council will recommend the names to the
                    Academic Council and then to Management Council, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor
                    will consider such person / persons for their appointment as an Adjunct
                    Teachers.
               ii) The University shall put list of such teachers on the University website
                    (www.muhsnashik.com) for information of the colleges and individuals.
               iii) Desirous college will appoint these teachers as adjunct teachers.

          4)          Status:- These teachers shall be called as an Adjunct teachers of
               Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik. They will enjoy the privileges of
               a teacher as mentioned in “Note”.

          5)   Remuneration: -
               Remuneration will be paid as follows:-
               Lecturer :-            Rs. 500/- (Five Hundred Only) per hour.
               Asso. Professor :- Rs. 600/- (Six Hundred Only) per hour.
               Professor :-           Rs. 750/- (Seven Hundred fifty Only) per hour.
               i) Total budget for arranging the lectures of adjunct teacher in affiliated colleges will
                     be Rs. 5,00,000/- per year.
               ii) The grant of Rs. 5000/- on account of arranging the lectures of adjunct teachers
                     will be granted once in three years to desirous college.
               iii) If a college arranges such lectures, the remuneration for lectures will be paid by
                     the University and other expenses like TA/DA will be borne by the concerned
                     college.
               iv) The college should submit the statement of expenditure incurred on account of
                     arranging lectures of adjunct teachers. After receipt of such statement from the
                     college, the University will release the amount of the remuneration as per the
                     rules.
               v) The college should arrange the lectures of adjunct teachers only from amongst
                     the list approved by the University.

          6)   Place of teaching:- Theoretical part will be taught in the college and practical /
               clinical part may be taught in the clinic or in hospital.



Note :-   Adjunct teachers would be in addition to the teachers required as per the norms of the
           respective councils. Teaching experience as adjunct teacher will be considered as half
           of teaching experience. They will not be eligible to contest any election of the University
           authorities as well as he will not have any right to vote for the elections.
