Basic Statistics and Introduction to Statistical Process Control is a module in the Driving Organizational Excellence College Certificate Program. The full program contains 7 modules that can be taken individually to fill knowledge gaps or combined to lead to certification. COURSE DESCRIPTION The importance of statistics as an integral component of a quality management system will be presented. Statistics and Quality Management Explore the use of statistics in quality management Review a number of tools for process analysis Acquire an understanding of basic statistical concepts and analytical tools Assessment and Measurement • Assess measurement system capability and experimental design as a means of attaining a state of process control Statistical Process Control (SPC) The concepts behind SPC SPC techniques for variables and attributes Process capability indices After this section you will be able to: 1. Use simple statistical tools to analyze problems and implement effective process controls. 2. Undertake a risk analysis when making decisions on organizational issues or implementing new processes or products. 3. Verify the implementation of new processes or changed processes. NICK BURN a licensed Professional Engineer, is an experienced consultant and seminar leader in the field of applied statistical analysis for continuous quality improvement and problem solving. He consults in the areas of applied statistical analysis, measurement system assessment, the design of experiments (DOE), and statistical process control (SPC). BILL HALSTEAD, P. Eng., is a Senior Manager, experienced in project, departmental, and operations management. Prior to consulting, Bill contributed to operations and business processes improvements at General Motors, Mitel, Canadian Marconi, Lumonics Optics, Filtran Microcircuits, and Huber+Suhner. Bill is a Lean Manufacturing, Operations, Project Management, Supply Chain, Quality, and ERP Systems professional. MICHAEL HART has a background in post secondary university level mathematics and sciences with over 20 years of quality management and organizational development experience within the manufacturing, service, educational and public service environments. Mike is an ASQ Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), ASQ Certified Quality Manager (CQMgr), NQI Certified Assessor. STEPHEN DAVIES is a professional business excellence consultant and corporate trainer. Stephen's core expertise is in designing and delivering courses and consultation related to Business Excellence, Strategic and Operational Quality and Operations Management. He has recently co-founded i2 Learning; a digital games-based publishing company. Stephen has a Masters Degree (M.Sc.) in Systems Engineering and a Bachelors Degree (Honours) in Physics with Music (Sound Engineering).
