History and Current Situation


  History:
   The Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation was founded in
    1998 as an education and training center for students and alumni of
    the University of Applied Sciences Gelsenkirchen
   The institute was founded as a central scientific institution to
    cooperate with the different faculties
   First activities in the Entrepreneurship Education by the start of the
    operations of the executive board in the year 1999/2000

  Current Situation:
   The institute is cooperating with all faculties at the 3 locations of the
    university
   3 professors are responsible for teaching, training, consulting and
    research (executive board)
   Support by 7 professors (including our rector)
   3 scientific assistants und 2 student assistants
   Approx. 170 students/ semester (basis and advanced studies)
   20-30 consultations/ 2-3 start-ups of postgraduates annually

Main Objectives and Target Groups


 Objectives:
  Promotion of the entrepreneurial spirit and action
  Motivation and sensitization of students regarding the chances of
   entrepreneurial activities (“self employed as an alternative of being
   employed”)
  Strengthening of the personality development of the students,
   especially with focus on creativity and responsibility
  Support of university start-ups particularly innovative start-ups
  Improvement of the regional entrepreneurial culture in
