AN INTRODUCTION TO LEGAL PRACTICE IN CHINA

CESL is pleased to announce a 3-day course for European legal professionals, titled ‘An Introduction to Legal Practice in China’, which will take place in Torino, Italy, from 8th to 10th October 2009. Organised by Prof. Dr. Gianmaria Ajani (Deputy Director of CASCC), this course provides an introduction to several aspects of contract and commercial law practice and litigation in the People’s Republic of China. The training modules are designed to provide European practicing lawyers and legal advisors with the necessary information on: how to find the law contract law, contract negotiation and drafting company law public interest litigation
The lecturers of the course include senior legal researchers and distinguished practitioners from Europe and China, which will ensure that the topic is explored from a variety of different angles. Participation in this course is subject to a fee of € 300. Its main founding comes from the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation. Its aim is to promote research and to provide knowledge in the fields of culture, language, economics and law in contemporary China. In particular, the Centre carries on research projects and offers training on issues dealing with Chinese economic and political development, Chinese law, Chinese contemporary culture, language and society, in cooperation with academic and private research institutes. The China-EU School of Law (CESL), officially opened in Beijing in October 2008, is an exceptional institution not only aiming to offer high-level legal education to outstanding postgraduate students and legal practitioners, but also to contribute towards the improvement of legal dialogue between China and the European Union.
