Using a computer to trace your family tree
in conjunction with Cheshire County Council

Tracing your family tree can be a satisfying and rewarding hobby. The
Internet makes it relatively easy to trace your ancestors. You do not have to
travel far and you do not need to use microfiche readers etc. You may even
be lucky and find a fellow researcher has already done the hard work!

This course is designed for people who have acquired the skills covered on our
Computers for the Terrified course.

This course will show you:

How to start your family history

Internet sites of special interest for genealogists

How to use the 1901 and other censuses

How to store your family tree on a computer

How to find other useful information

Prior to coming on the course it is helpful if you can collect as much information
(e.g. names, age, place of birth) of the ancestors you wish to research.

The course runs for 10 weeks and costs £60.00. Additional costs may apply if for
example you wish to buy detailed information from the Public Records Office.
