Group 6 Joe Manning, Cody Northrop Darrel Miller, Ryan Mouser First we will have a shop that will have four stalls to work on cars, and one pit for work under the cars. We will also have tow trucks to go out into the community and do small jobs, like changing oil and fixing tires. We are going to hire technicians to produce our services. We will be a small shop, so we will subcontract all of our machine work. This work will include sending heads in to get seats cut and resurfaced. We will also send blocks that the customers’ want bored out. The machines for this kind of work are very large and expensive. Our operating facilities will consists of our shop with four stalls and a pit. There will also be all of our tow trucks that will be our operating facilities too. Our technicians that we hire will be able to use our full sets of tools including diagnostic equipment. We will also have a rack with specialty tools. We will be able to have five cars in our shop at once. This will give us a large capacity for our small shop. With our tow trucks we will be able to have even a larger capacity of cars to work on. The only thing that they will have to work on is cars outside the shop. We will be buying our shop, so all we will have to do is build onto the building. We have thought a lot about just leasing, but for this reason alone we decided to buy the shop. We are planning on advancing all the time so that means we will have to expand our facility. We are going to use a five bay method with one pit for express oil changes for people that need an oil change in about 20 minutes. The rest
Group 6 Joe Manning, Cody Northrop Darrel Miller, Ryan Mouser of the bays are for customers that need major engine, transmissions, and tire work. We also have an alignment rack for customers that want alignments. Right now we are making all of the blue prints for our shop. We will have around 20,000 sq ft for the whole building. This should be plenty of space for the work we will be conducting. We are going to make appointments for people that need services other than oil changes. Oil changes are first come first serve. We have fourteen technicians for both our shop and 24-hour roadside service. Since we have in house service the customer needs to make an appointment if they want at home service. Our technicians will check their own work so we wont need quality control people. If the car comes back and it’s the technician’s fault, he will have to fix the car with out pay. If he still does not complete the task he will be put back into training until he can get the job right. If poor work persists the technician will be terminated. We will have an employee to sale tires, wheels, and miscellaneous items to customers. Inventory will be once a year and everyone in the shop will help count and keep track of the inventory. We are in a very prosperous city for business and there are a lot of people to do business with. But being in such a large city there will be a lot of competition so we are going to have competitive pricing and keep
Group 6 Joe Manning, Cody Northrop Darrel Miller, Ryan Mouser up with the rest of our competitor’s. Special charges will be added if we service a customer’s car at their house. Our operating advantages that exist include a drive-thru pit for fast, efficient oil changes. Other operating advantages include doors on both sides of the shop for easy access to all lifts at all times. Also , all of the tool boxes are in the center of the shop for convenience for all technicians. There will also be a small toolbox in the pit for the pit technician. The labor requirements for the secretary include handling customers, cashiering, light computer and bookwork and other minor office duties. The manager will oversee everything and will also take part in taking inventory along with all the other workers. The service writer will write repair orders, give estimates, make appointments with customers, load the technician loading chart, and deal with all of the vendors. The technicians in the service trucks will need basic servicing knowledge and the skills to operate the truck, as well as having a hazardous waste license. The in-house technicians will need to be highly skilled in all aspects automotive service and repair, as well as diagnostics. Some low-skilled technicians will be required for the regular maintenance jobs such as oil changes, tires, and filter and fluid changes. Major production costs will include our loan payments, utilities, insurance, and inventory. Other major production costs will also include employee wages and benefits, and taxes and capital investments.
Group 6 Joe Manning, Cody Northrop Darrel Miller, Ryan Mouser A large inventory with a variety of fluids and filters, as well as tires and other miscellaneous maintenance parts will be needed on hand at all times. Other parts that are a necessity will include gaskets and sealants, an array of nuts and bolts, lines and fittings, and grease and adhesives. Most of the miscellaneous parts we will carry on hand will be for popular vehicles, and after the first few months we will have a better idea of the more common cars seen in our shop. We will be supplied by A + M General, a leading parts manufacturer, who will make deliveries every Monday and Thursday, except for holidays. From them we will get all of the components necessary for service and repair. Any new diagnostic and specialty tools that may come into the market that we need will be supplied by Craftsman, Snap-On, and any other vendors that are available with new diagnostic equipment. These vendors will show up at different times of the week, and will be handled by the service writer in a timely manner. Production costs will vary from area to area, but will be handled in a way that we can provide competitive pricing to our customers, and maintain profits. Obviously we will make more money from in-house work than from our on the go service. There will be a standard fee for every job performed from our service trucks, and it will go up after the first thirty miles of travel. In-house work will be performed at standard prices, depending on the skill of the technician needed to perform the work. There will be no extra charges for our 24-hour emergency service,
Group 6 Joe Manning, Cody Northrop Darrel Miller, Ryan Mouser the cost of the tech that is on call will be averaged into all towing and service provided by our trucks.
