For the information of your Stewards, the Racing Operators and the Chief Executive of the National
Horseracing Authority, in accordance with National Horseracing Authority Rule 4.2.3., I wish to
submit the following report on the meeting conducted at Greyville Racecourse on Wednesday,
18th March 2009.

Stipendiary Stewards on duty: Messrs F S Parker (Chairman), E P Rodrigues (Deputy Chairman), D M
Anderson, S Arendse, R Jeewanlall & T Nhlapho (Trainee)
Veterinary Surgeons on duty: Dr R Gatley B.V.Sc. and Dr R Crosley B.V.Sc.
Starters: Messrs P Hepworth, S Lovell and M Fletcher-Campbell (Trainee).
Clerk of Scales: Messrs D Brown & R Moffat. The Clerk of Scales examined the Medical record books of
the Jockeys that participated at today’s meeting and was requested to report any irregularities to the
Stipendiary Board.

Farrier : Mr J Fields – Ensured that the plates of all the runners engaged in today’s meeting were the same
as appeared in the race card and complied with the Rules.
Horse Identifier: Mrs L Allen – Ensured that the Identity Documents of all the horses engaged for today’s
meeting and their markings and scanning numbers were found to correspond with their passports.

                     Trainer C Eudey reported SERMONIZE coughing post race on return to
                     stables.
                    Jockey D Daniels did not ride at today’s meeting as he is injured. Rule
                     25.12 does not apply.
                    Clairwood Racecourse : 15.03.09 :
                     Trainer D Campbell reported SPANISH EMBLEM was cut into off fore and
                     off hind on return to stables.

             KING FERNANDO (L Africa) : Raced green, hanging out throughout.
             Jockey B Lerena the rider of NICE TO NIBBLE (2.80 lengths) dropped his off side
             rein momentarily at approximately the 200 metre mark and thereafter was slightly
             inconvenienced at approximately the 100 metre mark.
             BROOK GREEN (*K Teetan) : Raced green, switched inwards to obtain a clear run
             in the latter stages.

             Jockey, Equipment and Race Card Changes: Jockey C Little the rider of
             TREVOR weighed out at 58.8kgs, 1.5kg over the carded weight of 57kgs. (Over-

             carrying FRICKER ROAD (S Cormack) wide for a number of strides.
             Jockey S Cormack the rider of FRICKER ROAD (5.10 lengths) reported this gelding
             not striding out freely in the latter stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to
             examine this gelding.

             At approximately the 300 metre mark NIGHT WIND (AUS) (A Delpech) racing into a
             tight gap, brushed THE WALRUS (ZIM) (S Cormack) on two occasions.

             Jockey, Equipment and Race Card Changes: Apprentice D Howell the rider of
             SAINT CRISPIAN only claimed 1kg of the 2.5kg apprentice allowance and weighed
             out at 51.2kg. (Weight declared on the 17.03.09 at 08h50 as he is restricted to a

             Trainer D Drier was granted permission for CHEERS CAPTAIN (S Cormack) to
             proceed to the start with the assistance of a lead pony.
             Jockey I Sturgeon the rider of KALAMUS (6.45 lengths) reported this gelding
             making abnormal respiratory noises in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was
             requested to examine KALAMUS.

             The Stipendiary Stewards Reported (SA): TOUCH OF SPRING (R Danielson) :
             The winner. Selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Eudey
             advised (DA).
             At approximately the 250 metre mark QUEEN MOET (A Delpech) hanging out,
             shifted out brushing CHECK IN TIME (S Randolph) and thereafter at approximately
             the 50 metre mark QUEEN MOET (A Delpech) shifted out slightly carrying CHECK
             IN TIME (S Randolph) outwards.
             A race review was called by a Stipendiary Steward with regard to this incident and
             after viewing the patrol videos from the various angles, and after considering the
             official distances between these two horses, decided to take no further action.
             Jockey A Delpech the rider of QUEEN MOET appeared before the Board with
             regard to this incident and was advised to take corrective measures in preventing
             his mounts from shifting ground in races.
             Apprentice D Howell the rider of SNOWBALL (8.80 lengths) reported this mare not
             striding out freely in the latter stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to
             examine SNOWBALL.
             Due to the performance of MISSISSIPPI (I Surgeon) (9.80 lengths) the Veterinary
             Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.

             Jockey, Equipment and Race Card Changes: Jockey C Little the rider of DAY
             TO REMEMBER weighed out at 58kgs, 0.5kg over the carded weight of 57.5kgs.

               Approaching the 400 metre mark TAKE IT EASY (B Jacobson) shifted out away
               from the crop, making contact with JOE PIKE (M Latorre) and carried JOE PIKE (M
               Latorre) and CONNER MACLEOD (R Danielson) outwards.

               Jockey, Equipment and Race Card Changes: MADAGASCAR : Is a gelding and
               not a colt as carded. Gelded on the 30.12.08. (advised on the 16.03.09)
