							Workout Day 1
The Learning Workout programme
Targets of this session:

  1. You have an enjoyable lunch!
  2. You develop an understanding of what the learning
     workout entails.
  3. You address the barriers that have prevented you from
     employment in the past and we will show you how the
     learning workout will help you to overcome those
     barriers.
  4. You decide whether you are prepared to commit to this 4
     week course and to getting a job at the end of it!


You will be shown the Learning workout programme with Lamda3
at the gym, what it is and how – through attending every session -
you can make it work for you. As with any training programme,
what you get out of it relies a lot on what you are prepared to put
into completing it.

You will be shown an outline of the learning workout steps and
content. You will be shown how each session builds up towards
providing you with practical ‘portfolio’ or package of knowledge and
skills that will be helping you to get a job and start earning money.

You will be invited to discuss your current situation and what kind
of work you would like to be helped towards getting into.
Workout Day 2
Who Are You?
Targets of this session:
  1. To find out what you are trying to achieve
  2. To make some decisions about who and what you want
     to be
  3. Change those habits which stop you from moving
     forward

This session is about finding out who you are and what you are
going to be doing with your life. Once you have identified this, you
can start to make it happen. This session should leave you feeling
motivated and ready to act positively towards getting your life on
track.
Workout Day 3
Job Interview Skills

Targets of this session:
  1. You will know how to perform, what to say and how to
     sell yourself in interviews.
  2. You will have a good idea of the kind of questions you
     will be asked in and interview and know how to answer
     them.
  3. You will know the essential preparation methods for an
     interview along with some extras that will make you
     stand out from other interviewees.

Getting a job always means meeting your employer and having a
job interview.

As a job-seeker you will be wanting to make sure that you are cool,
confident and able to do your very best at any job interview.

This learning workout on Job Interview skills is a practical training
session that will help you to be cool and confident under job
interview conditions.

You will be given help with understanding and trying out the
essential preparation and techniques so that by the end you will be
able to:
 Prepare the information you want the interviewer to hear. Say
   and show it in a way that the employer will find interesting
   because you will sound and be like the person that they are
   looking for.
 Prepare and deliver well thought out answers for the usual
   questions that employers ask at job interviews.
Workout Days 4, 5 and 6
Essential IT
Target of these sessions:
To develop essential IT skills, we will use Microsoft Word,
Excel, PowerPoint, Internet and Email.


IT training is very expensive and time consuming, so time is
money in today’s business, so if you can show to the potential
employer that you have attended and completed successfully
essential IT courses and hence have gained Basic IT skills that
will be very favourable to the potential employer and could make a
big difference in getting a job.

So let’s get started, there are five exercises and I would like you to
at least complete three exercises and if we have time we can look
at the other two as well. Good Luck! If you get stuck please ask!

P.s. The Essential IT workbook is already in your portfolio
(section 2) so if you want to come down to the gym and get a head
start before these sessions begin then please feel free.
Workout Day 7
First Aid Course


     Emergency Aid Course
 for Appointed Persons (One day or 4 hour)
First Aid equipment and first aid trained personnel at the workplace
are requirements of Health & Safety law. In emergencies, First
Aiders and Appointed Persons can act to prevent situations becoming
major issues and can limit potential sick leave through prompt
action.

Aim          To enable candidates to summon help & give adequate and efficient
             Emergency Aid to a casualty at the workplace following an injury or illness
             using material to hand and HSE approved first aid equipment

Who          Any individuals who have been nominated as Appointed persons at their
             workplace or wish to gain knowledge of emergency procedures & a
should       recognised qualification in First Aid

Syllabus      Introduction, registration welcome & domestics
              Subject gathering for final session
              The task of the Appointed person and priorities of First Aid practice
              What is first aid? What to do at the scene of an emergency
              Assessment of a casualty
              Recovery position
              Artificial Ventilation and CPR techniques
              Examination of an unconscious casualty
              Assessment and treatment of choking casualties
              Treatment and control of slight and severe external and internal
               bleeding
              Assessment and treatment of Shock
              Duties of an Appointed person
              Communication, Contents of a first aid box
              Subjects gathered from first session
              Revision

Award        A Certificate of Competence will be awarded upon successful completion of
             the course. This will be valid for three years.

Teaching     The course combines tutorials & demonstrations with student-centered
             methods such as group work, case studies, question & answer sessions, skill
strategies   demonstrations & practice.

Locations    Training can be given at your site for up to 12 students per course.
Fees      The course fee includes all trainer fees and certification.
          Substantial discounts can be negotiated for larger contracts and programs.

Workout Day 8
Making Contacts – Job Searching & CVs

Targets of this session:
  1. You will have a well laid out CV that will sell your
     strengths and look good to an employer.
  2. You will have a good knowledge of how to search for
     that job you want and how to apply for it effectively.
     Proving to the employer that you are a serious job
     seeker.
  3. You will know how to get organised and keep accurate
     records of the jobs you have applied for and the
     progress you have made.

There is a job out there for you. This learning workout on Making
Contacts – Job Searching is aimed at helping you to understand
and be able to find the kind of work that you feel that you would
enjoy doing.

Employers are going to a lot of effort to find the kind of people they
need who will make a useful contribution to their business.
Because they are busy running their business and looking for
people to help them, they will only consider serious job seeking
applications that come across as well prepared and properly
thought out.

Together we will help you to reach out to these potential employers
and make a first good impression. You will be helped with making
sure that:
 Your telephone manners and methods are professional and
   effective
 Your written details are laid out in a way that quickly shows an
   employer that you should be considered for an interview
 You keep records of the jobs that you are applying for, the
   employer’s details and appointments that you have made.
Workout Day 9
Ready and Fit!

Targets of this session:
  1. You will receive a pack of research from the
     learningworkout staff on your particular field of interest,
     Illustrating to you all the routes and options you have to
     get you a job in that field.
  2. You will have a completed portfolio to take with you to
     interviews which will display all the achievements you
     have made on the learningworkout.
  3. You will have a personal action plan.

Throughout your whole Learningworkout programme you will
have been working with all of us at Lamda3 towards getting
yourself into ‘tip top’ fitness for getting the job that you want and
will enjoy doing.
You will have been learning essential knowledge and practising
skills to help you be an attractive potential employee. Your
Lamda3 Team will have been listening to you and finding out about
potential employers and their requirements.
The next step is to put together all the proof of your hard work into
your Learningworkout portfolio so that at any job-interview you
can show an employer that you are Ready and Fit! to start
working and earning.

This Learningworkout on being Ready and Fit! will be a meeting
where we agree an action plan together for you so that you can
really get on with getting that job that you want.
Workout Day 10
Graduation Day

Targets of this session:
  1. You receive the certificates you have gained on the
     course
  2. You receive a written report of your performance on the
     course and a character reference which will be valuable
     when applying for any job.
  3. You will finish the course with a clear idea of how to take
     your next step into employment.

You will have completed your four weeks at the learning workout.
Now it is time for you to receive a written report and reference from
the Lamda3 Team that will be a valuable certificate to show your
employer that you mean business!

Employers, who have never met you before, place great store in
worthwhile references and proof of continuous attendance. Having
attended each and every learning workout, you will be able to
show them that you have the one thing that they treasure most in a
new employee – the right attitudes for work. Qualities like
‘Stickability’ ‘Reliability’ and a ‘Willingness to learn’ and ‘An ability
to get on with other people’.
Your certificate will also show that you have attained a proven
standard of valuable skills like ‘Communication and Thinking’,
‘First Aid’ and ‘Computer Information Technology’.
