“BOOKS BUILDERS” 2009
3rd INTERNATIONAL ART COMPETITION

__________________________________________________________ Cultural Association “VERBAMANENT - Presìdio del Libro” of Aradeo - Sannicola (Le) – Italy, announces the 3rd International Art Competition “Books Builders” 2009. The competition, which is going to be hold every year, is supported by Region Puglia, province of Lecce, town council of Aradeo, Provincial library of Lecce.
REGULATION
Article 1
The competition is reserved to artists coming from all countries that must to be older than 18 year. The participation is free.
Article 2
Each artist can participate to the competition with one handmade art book. The subject is free. The handmade art book can be made of every kind of material and can have free shape and free technique. The art book have to be up to cm 40 x 50 (closed), thickness no more than cm50, weight no more than kg 1,50 and shouldn’t have been award a competition to any other art competition. As far as special installation and projects is concerned, it is necessary the approval by the Association. Every handmade art book must be signed by the artist and be usable by the public. Collective artworks are admitted. Those artworks that do not correspond to these criteria won’t be admitted to the competition.
Article 3
For each handmade art book must be attached the application form (you can find it on the website www.verbamanent.net), containing all the data related to the artwork, together with the artist’s surname, name, full address, telephone number, e-mail address and authentic signature. Furthermore you have to attach: A CD-ROM with high resolution picture of your art book necessary to the on line art catalogue
A word file with your: name, surname, title of your artwork, technique, year, dimensions, price and a short note about the work The Association assures that personal data won’t be spread nor released according to the current regulation as regards privacy.
Article 4
The staff of the organization VERBAMANENT will be very careful about each artwork they will receive. Anyway they will not be responsible about any kind of damage or stealing to the artwork. Consequently the association suggest each artist to insure their artwork.
Article 5
The names of the components of the jury will be announced during the competition giving. The opinion of the jury is final and unquestionable.
Article 6
The works are to be sent with Posta Raccomandata, Pacco Postale Celere, Corriere Espresso by 30th October 2009 and no later (the postmark will be checked) to the following address: Associazione Culturale VerbaManent - Presìdio del Libro C/o Maddalena Castegnaro Via Martin Luther King,7 73017-Sannicola (LE) – ITALY All the artwork won’t be given back before the decision of the jury. All the attachments of the artwork (CD-ROM,FILE) won’t be given back.
Article 7
The artist can decide to donate the handmade artwork at VerbaManent association that will collect them in the PERMANENT HANDMADE ART BOOK COLLECTION “DROSOS” in Palazzo Grassi, via della Costituzione 29, Aradeo (Le) - Italy. All the handmade art book given to the association will make part of all the art exhibition that the association will organize.
Article 8
All the artists that would like to have their art works back have to: 1 Request them at VerbaManent Association in the application form 2 Attach the receipt of the payment of 15.00 Euro on the c/c postal n.83571398, at the name of Enrico Repinese – Sannicola (LE). In case the cost of the delivery will be more expensive than 15,00 Euro the artist is requested to pay the difference. VerbaManent Association won’t give back the art work to the artist before having received the receipt that attest the done payment.
Article 9
The Competition Ceremony will be on 9th December in Palazzo Grassi, via della Costituzione, 29 Aradeo (LE) – Italy.
Article 10
AWARDS To the artists classed first, second and third will be given awards for a total amount of 1000 euros divided as follows: 1° Prize - 500 Euro 2° Prize – 300 Euro 3° Prize – 200 Euro The art work that will win the first prize will became the logo of the competition “Books Builders 2010”. The Association and the Jury will have also the faculty of assigning a special mention to those artworks considered worthy of it.
Article 11
All the prizes should be collect from the artist during the prize giving or be sent to the artist by previous written communication to the Association. Winners and Mentioned artists will be pre-informed and their names will be inserted in the website www.verbamanent.net. No communication via telephone or via internet will be given as far as the result of the competition is concerned, for the Association will inform Winners and mentioned artists with a written communication.
Article 12
It will be realized an on line art catalogue with the picture of all the handmade art books that will participate to the competition .
Article 13
All the artists that will participate to the competition have to accept every single articles of the present regulation. Dates and place can be modified.
