The Corporate Services and Law Sub-plan
The Corporate Services and Law Sub-plan is responsible for the interpretation of tax and
superannuation laws and the keeper of key corporate relationships – with our staff, the
government and other government agencies.
The sub-plan:
      supports the government by contributing to new policy and law development and
       implementing legislative changes
      oversees the design and implementation of administrative systems to support new laws
      supports the efficient and effective operation of the ATO by delivering corporate
       governance, financial management, people and workplace services
      brings a strategic focus to the ATO’s corporate communications and ensures the
       community is kept informed about the ATO and its products.


ATO People
ATO People provides a focus on the people strategies needed to support the ATO’s business
activities, including:
     employment policy and the working environment (including agency agreements,
         occupational health and safety, wellbeing, diversity and personnel functions)
     employee and industrial relations
     performance management and remuneration
     recruitment, deployment and separation
     rewards and recognition
     organisational development, including work design and support for the change program
     learning and professional development, including career development
     leadership and cultural development, including site leadership, support for leaders and
         coaching
     workforce analytics and strategic planning
     security.


Systems Strategy and Support
The advertised position is in the People sub-plan / Systems Strategy and Support / Corporate
Systems – Finance team. This team performs a SAP Finance systems administration role, not
Personnel processing. The ATO has a SAP landscape that includes ECC6, BI 7.0 and
Netweaver 7.0 on EHP4.

The job

Job description
The SAP Financials Team Manager is responsible for the management and development of the
Tax Office SAP financial systems and related systems. In particular, the occupant of this
position will be responsible for:
      configuring and documenting changes in our financial systems
      providing second level help to users
      carrying out system assurances
      engaging with stakeholders regarding business and other requirements, and
      working with IT areas regarding security and access, and programming changes, to our
       financial systems
The SAP Financials Team Manager is responsible for a small team and reports directly to the
director of Corporate System.


Duty statement

      Take a Project Management approach to support and develop the Tax Office SAP
       Financials system and reporting needs.
      Identify and engage with stakeholders, mange and configuration the user testing of
       system changes.
      Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to ensure a shared
       understanding of business intent, proposed solutions and implications across the Tax
       Office.
      Work Collaboratively with key stakeholders to improve the efficiency and effectiveness
       of SAP financials such as:
       o Senior Executive
       o Subject Matter Experts
       o Staff Members
       o Sponsors and business owners, and
       o Other agencies
      Lead in the development and application of continuous improvement and quality
       assurance practices within the Branch and among Power Users of ATO’s SAP financial
       and interconnected systems.
      Build organisation capability by:
       o Mentoring, guiding and training team members and other users in our organisation,
           to achieve their potential with our financial systems
       o Improving on reporting options available from our financial systems, and
       o Developing and maintaining procedural and system documentation.

      Apply the principles of EEO, Access and Equity, OH&S and ID in the work practices of
       the Branch and in dealings with staff and clients.


Selection criteria
Technical knowledge and experience
      Sound understanding of accounting concepts and financial systems processing.
      Good working knowledge and understanding of SAP financial modules and reporting
       (including FI, CO, MM (Purchasing) and BW) and their connectivity with other SAP
       modules (financial and HR) and financial systems.
      Proven experience with SAP Financials configuration, testing of changes and change
       control processes.
      Understanding of the Commonwealth and ATO financial framework.
