The Project Managers ability to to lead a team is paramount to anything else, even technical
ability. The Project Manager can always draft in technical help, but being good at the people side
of a project is not something you can buy in, you have either got it or you have not.
A good Project Manager recognizes the need to be able to deal with a variety of people, teams,
authority, ego”s and emotions. Learn to be a Project Manager that never underestimates the value
of high moral and trust from your team and stakeholders.
People issues or more commonly political issues will arise and the ability to deal with them
quickly is key to success.

3. Know the Success Criteria “ Understand and sign off on commonly agreed Success Criteria ”
Rest assured, your sponsor and stakeholders will have their own ideas of what will eventually
make the project a success. Get that picture early on, work with them to visualize exactly what
that is. Work with them to record and document these criteria.
These Success Criteria will be key in determining your success.
