                  HELP SHAPE
                  OUR FUTURE

We want you to join us by becoming a Foundation
Trust Member. If you are interested in becoming a
Member please fill in your details overleaf or visit
www.thh.nhs.uk/foundation.
T
he key to becoming a successful Foundation Trust
is you. Membership is free and as a Member you
can ensure our services are responsive to your
needs and those of your family and friends.

What is a Foundation Trust?
Many changes are being made in the National Health
Service. The single biggest change being made is in giving
local hospitals more freedom from central government
control, making them more accountable to the public and
patients they serve – that means you, your family and
your community.

By becoming a Foundation Trust the Hillingdon Hospital
NHS Trust will have more freedom to invest in services
more tailored to you, our patients.

To be a successful Foundation Trust, we need
you to get involved and become part of your hospital
– and that means becoming a Member of our Trust.

What’s in it for you?
Membership of the Trust means you are showing your
support for your local hospitals and you will be entitled to
the following:

• Being eligible for the NHS discount scheme which
saves you money through a range of retailers.
• Receiving copies of our regular Foundation Talk newsletter
keeping you up to date on all the latest developments.
You can be sent these through the post or via email.
• Voting in elections for the Council of Governors, or even
    stand for election yourself.

You are not required to attend meetings in person.
However, if you wish, you can choose to get more actively
involved through:

• Advising us of the views of patients: for example have
your opinion heard in relation to the design of hospital
services, visiting hours and hospital cleanliness.
• Attending meetings to discuss our future direction as
    a Foundation Trust.

What have our Members done so far?
You can be involved as little or as much as you choose.
Some of our Members have already:

• Voiced opinions and suggestions for improvement and
    innovation at our hospitals.
• Elected fellow Members to the Council of Governors
who work with the Trust Board to influence the
direction we take as a Foundation Trust.
• Contributed to the design of the services and facilities
at our new Mount Vernon Treatment Centre.

Right, how do I join?
To become a Member and support your local hospital
please complete and return the attached form.

Further details are also available on our website
at www.thh.nhs.uk/foundation.
