                                         ANNOUNCEMENT
                           REGIONAL ELOCUTION CONTEST FOR C.A.STUDENTS

       The Regional Elocution Contest for the C.A. Students will be held on Monday, 15th August 2011 at
11 AM at the Institute’s Premises(R. Singhi Hall), 7, Anandilal Poddar Sarani (Russell Street), Kolkata –
700071. The topics will have to be selected from amongst the following:

    1.         Fair Value and Financial Stability.

    2.         XBRL – A Revolution to Analyse Corporate Financial Statements.

    3.         IFRS adoption- whether a goal worth pursuing?

    4.         Auditor’s Opinion : Reasonable Assurance Vs Absolute Assurance.

    5.         Independence is a condition of mind and personal character.

    6.         Can e-filing of income tax returns be made compulsory for individual taxpayers?
   7.          LLP- Redefining Partnership.

   8.         Life Cycle Costing.
   9.         Capital Market Innovations.

   10.        Mergers & Acquisitions : News and trends.

   11.        Inflation Vs Economic growth.

   13.        Preventing Corruption: Role of Accounting Profession.

   14.        Population Growth : A drag on economic growth of India.

   15.        The Indian Examination System - A facilitator to develop Rote Learning.

   16.        Should Euthanesia (Mercy Killing) be legalized.


        The contestants may be permitted to express their views for a maximum period of 10 minutes
depending on the number of participants on any of the selected subjects.. The medium of competition will be
English. However, if any participant wants to speak in Hindi, the option will be available. Four winners will
be selected for the All India Elocution Contest.

        Branch level winners traveling to participate in the Regional Elocution Contest will be reimbursed to
and fro AC 2 Tier railway fare by the shortest route in trains and also be paid an allowance @Rs.1,500/- per
day for maximum five days to meet the incidental expenses ( days would be counted from commencement of
journey till completion of journey except any interim stay for personal reasons). Reimbursement would be in
A/C Payee Cheque to be sent in due course subject to filling up the particular claim form.

        The Panel of Judges will be selected from amongst eminent personalities. Winners will be selected
on the basis of the following criteria:

         4.         Precision of expression.                                                     10
         5.         Depth of coverage of the subject matter including
                     reference to latest developments in the concerned area.                     50
         6.         Adherence to time limit.                                                     10

        Four winners will be selected from the Regional Elocution Competition to participate in the
Final All India Competition.

                                  ANNOUNCEMENT
                        REGIONAL QUIZ CONTEST FOR C.A. STUDENTS

        The Regional Quiz Contest for C.A. Students will be held on Monday, 15 th August 2011 at 2.00 PM
at the Institute’s Premises (R.Singhi Hall), 7, Anandilal Poddar Sarani, Kolkata-700071.     The details
guidelines are given below:

     1. (i) Medium of Quiz Contest is English. However, if any participant wants to speak in
           Hindi, the option will be given.

       (ii) There will be eight rounds of Quiz Contest cover the following areas
            a. Accounting
            b. Auditing
            c. Corporate Laws
            d. Taxation – Direct and Indirect
            e. Costing/Management Accounting/Financial Management
            f. Information Technology
            g. Economics
            h. General Awareness
           Additionally, there will be a rapid fire round.

       (iii) Three questions will be asked each round to each group. The students will be given
            60 seconds for answering each of the questions.

       (iv) In each round, the questions will be addressed turn-by-turn to each group. For example Q.No.1
           will be addressed to Group A. If Group A answers the question correctly, then Q.No.2 will be
           addressed to Group B. If Group A does not answer Q. No. 1 correctly, the question will pass on
           to Group B. A question will pass once and there will be no subsequent passing. As usual, the
          Question No. 2 will be addressed to Group B, the Question no.3 will be addressed to Group C and
           so on.

       (v) At the end, there will be a Rapid Fire Round in which five questions will be asked.
         Each team will be given one minute and five questions are posed to them which are to be answered
         instantaneously. Students may choose not to answer a question. There will be no passing in Rapid
         Fire Round.

       (vi) Each question may carry 5 marks. 2 points credit shall be awarded for questions which have been
           passed.

   2. A group of two students will be selected from the Regional Quiz Competition to participate in the
      Final All India Competition.
