 Israel’s Future
      Part 6
                Introduction
 Israel’s future “history” is a surety. God’s
love is infinite and unchangeable. If any
person calls upon the name of the Lord
Jesus Christ and asks Him to save them
from their sin, they will be restored to God.
Israel stands as a testimony of God’s great
                   love for man.
                          Romans 11:30-36
For as you were once disobedient to God, yet have now
obtained mercy through their disobedience, 31even so these also
have now been disobedient, that through the mercy shown you
they also may obtain mercy. 32For God has committed them all to
disobedience, that He might have mercy on all. 33Oh, the depth
of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How
unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!
34“For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has become

His counselor?” 35“Or who has first given to Him And it shall be
repaid to him?” 36For of Him and through Him and to Him are all
things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.
Surety 1: God’s Revelation about Israel
                       Romans 11:25-26a
For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this
mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that
blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the
Gentiles has come in. 26And so all Israel will be saved, …

God has declared that Israel will return and be restored after the
                  “fullness of the Gentles”.
Surety 2: The Promise of Scripture
                         Romans 11:26-27
And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: “The Deliverer will
come out of Zion, And He will turn away ungodliness from
Jacob; 27For this is My covenant with them, When I take away
                             their sins.”
Jesus the Deliverer will do two things for Israel:
                1. He will turn away ungodliness
2. He will fulfill His covenant with Israel and take away their sins.
Surety 3: God’s Promise with the Patriarchs
                       Romans 11:28-29
Concerning the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but
concerning the election they are beloved for the sake of the
fathers. 29For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.
In this present time, it appears as if the Jews were/are the
enemies of the Gospel. They found the idea of God taking on
human flesh as absurd and persecuted the early church.
Despite their rejection, they are still God’s chosen nation
because of the promises made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Surety 4: The Believer’s Witness to Israel
                     Romans 11:30-31
For as you were once disobedient to God, yet have now
obtained mercy through their disobedience, 31even so these also
have now been disobedient, that through the mercy shown you
                 they also may obtain mercy.
This passage looks to the past. Before Messiah, Israel was the
nation that worshipped God, and the Gentiles were cut off
through their disobedience. Now Israel has rejected Messiah,
and God has turned to the Gentile who have chosen to believe
                      and receive mercy.
Surety 4: The Believer’s Witness to Israel
                     Romans 11:30-31
For as you were once disobedient to God, yet have now
obtained mercy through their disobedience, 31even so these also
have now been disobedient, that through the mercy shown you
                 they also may obtain mercy.
Gentiles entered as God’s people through the unbelief and
rejection of Israel. How much more shall Israel obtain mercy
through the mercy of the Gentiles.
Surety 4: The Believer’s Witness to Israel
                     Romans 11:30-31
For as you were once disobedient to God, yet have now
obtained mercy through their disobedience, 31even so these also
have now been disobedient, that through the mercy shown you
                 they also may obtain mercy.
The point seems to be this: we truly know the mercy of God through Jesus
Christ; therefore, we want the world to experience the same mercy and
forgiveness of sins. In particular, we should feel indebted to the Jews through
whom God gave us His Word, His Son, and His promises. Therefore,
Scripture predicts that the evangelistic efforts to reach the Jews will someday
bear fruit. The Jews will be reached by the mercy of God; they shall believe
and obey Jesus Christ as Lord.
           Surety 5: God’s Holiness & Mercy
                      Romans 11:32
For God has committed them all to disobedience, that He might
                    have mercy on all.
The word “committed” means “to shut up in a place, to close up,
                        to lock up”.
This is true of Jew and Gentile. God allows those who have
rejected Him, to be locked up (bondage) in their sin. This is a
picture of the cycle in the book of Judges, but on a personal level.
          Surety 5: God’s Holiness & Mercy
                      Romans 11:32
For God has committed them all to disobedience, that He might
                    have mercy on all.
The reason that God locks up men in their own selfishness is so
the true nature of that sinfulness can be clearly seen. This
should drive those who think honestly to seek God. God wishes
to have mercy upon all, both Jew and Gentile.
However man must recognize they are sinful and dying creatures
in desperate need of God, and that God will have mercy upon
the person who diligently seeks Him.
Surety 6: God’s Plan for the World
                         Romans 11:33-36
Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of
God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past
finding out! 34“For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who
has become His counselor?” 35“Or who has first given to Him
And it shall be repaid to him?” 36For of Him and through Him
and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.
The sixth surety is God's glorious plan for the world.
There are four important points in these verses.
Surety 6: God’s Plan for the World
                         Romans 11:33
Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of
God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past
                          finding out!
God’s plan is based in His infinite wisdom and knowledge. He
knows how to do everything perfectly. He is able to create,
arrange, order, and govern everything so that all things work out
                           perfectly.
Notice how God’s wisdom and knowledge are said to be deep
                        and rich!
Surety 6: God’s Plan for the World
                                 1 Peter 1:12
To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering
the things which now have been reported to you through those who have
preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven—things which
                          angels desire to look into.

                                  Psalm 139:6
                   Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
It is high, I cannot attain it.

                             Psalm 139:17-18
How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How great is the sum of them! 18If I should count them, they would be more in
number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You.
Surety 6: God’s Plan for the World
                      Romans 11:34
“For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has become
                      His counselor?”
No man can fully grasp the plan of God.
Believers do, however, have the mind of Christ. This does not
mean that believers understand God and His ways perfectly, but
it does mean that God reveals Himself and the truth to believers.
He reveals enough of Himself and His ways to save them from
                  sin, death, judgment, and hell.
Surety 6: God’s Plan for the World
                         Romans 11:35
35“Or who has first given to Him And it shall be repaid to him?”

No man can earn God's gift.
No man can put God in debt to him. No man can give anything to
God and claim that God owes him something in return. God owes
man nothing. Man has rejected and rebelled against following
God, choosing to go his own way. Man is committing high treason
against God. Man does not deserve nor can he earn any favor
from God. If man is to receive a favor from God, God has to
                      freely give the favor.
Surety 6: God’s Plan for the World
                       Romans 11:36
For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom
                   be glory forever. Amen.
God alone is the source, support, and end of all things.
Therefore, God is to be glorified forever and ever.
•All things are of God: all things were created by and find their source in God.
•All things are through God: all things come through His wisdom and
                     knowledge, His judgments and ways.
•All things are to God: all things exist for God, for His goodness and
                                    pleasure.
              Think About This …
God will restore Israel back to its place of
                    prominence.
However, God has a plan and purpose for your
life also. His calling may seem beyond your
ability, but His ways are above ours.
It is not for us to question, but for us to obey!
