Time is running out to get those last minute tax deductions for 2010!
That’s why Goodwill donation centers at more than 30 locations around the Valley are
staying open until 10pm on New Years Eve to help make donating more convenient.
Every donor of “gently used” goods will receive a receipt to document the donation for
tax purposes.
EXTENDED NEW YEAR’S EVE HOURS
AT GOODWILL DONATION CENTERS
9am to 10pm
Boulder City & Tropicana/Fort Apache locations will close at 7pm
(Visit www.sngoodwill.org for map of donation centers)
Goodwill of Southern Nevada expects more than 10,000 people to donate “gently
used” goods during the last week of December. That means Goodwill is ramping up
extra staff to handle the influx of donations. Goodwill’s processing center in North Las
Vegas where donations of “gently used” goods go to be sorted and priced will also stay
open late, closing at 10pm instead of 6pm all week.
The sale of “gently used” items in Goodwill stores and on-line, support Goodwill’s Career
Connections and Workforce Development programs. Career Connections offers FREE
job services such as career counseling and resume help, and Workforce Development
offers job training and other job placement services to state referred clients.
With the unemployment rate in Las Vegas at 14.3%, the need for these services has
increased exponentially. Despite this record number, Goodwill has served a record
5,480 people and placed 1,063 into jobs so far in 2010.
Guidelines for Tax Write-Offs:
Goodwill of Southern Nevada, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Your donation is tax
deductible to the fullest extent of the law. No goods or services were provided in exchange for
this donation. Federal law provides that clothing and household goods must be in “good used
condition or better” in order to qualify for tax deductions. IRS regulations prohibit charitable
organizations from establishing or affirming the value of contributions. Visit www.cpsc.gov for
information on the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act.
