N.B. Unit marked * can be taken in the second year of study by Psychology (with Hons) students
however a request for enrolment must be made via email to the course administrator. Please note
not all units are offered each year.

NON-PSYCHOLOGY ELECTIVES : may include units from Biology, Philosophy, Sociology and
Criminal Justice. HOWEVER, YOU MAY CHOOSE ANY UNIT THAT COMPLEMENTS PSYCHOLOGY
FOR YOUR NON-PSYCH ELECTIVES. Some Faculty of Business & Economics units may be
available as electives to students who meet the Faculty entry requirements (ie, MGW1100,
MGW1010, MKW1120). Non-Psychology Elective Recommendations for First Year sequences:
BIO1011, BIO1022, ATS1281, ATS1282, ATS1365, ATS1366, ATS1371, ATS1835. Second year level
non-psychology electives may be a continuation of one of the above first year sequences.

HONOURS REQUIREMENT: Students choose one of the following, PSY4230 or PSY4260 – *

STUDENTS WILL ALSO BE ENROLLED IN AN ADMINISTRATIVE UNIT PSY4000 WHICH
REFLECTS THEIR OVERALL MARK FOR THE HONOURS YEAR. THIS WILL APPEAR ON THE
TESTAMUR AS A MARK AND GRADE H1, H11A ETC




                                  CREDIT POINT REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATION

                       A TOTAL OF 192 CREDIT POINTS ARE REQUIRED WITH
                       o    A MAXIMUM OF 60 POINTS FROM FIRST YEAR LEVEL UNITS,
                       o    AT LEAST 36 POINTS FROM SECOND YEAR LEVEL UNITS AND
                       o    AT LEAST 36 POINTS FROM THIRD YEAR LEVEL UNITS*.
                       o    AND 48 POINTS AT FOURTH YEAR LEVEL†

                         * Notes: PSY2112 Organisational Psychology may be taken as an elective at
                                               Second or Third Year Level


Students are required to check prerequisites and prohibitions for units.
Any variations to the above course map, including the order in which units are taken, must be

†To be eligible for progression to the fourth year of the course students must achieve at least the
minimum entry requirement that is standard for all Honours programs in Psychology based on the
average grade across all core third-year units.

Students who do not meet the entry requirements for the Honours program in the BPsych(Hons)
will qualify for the award Bachelor of Psychological Science provided they have successfully
completed the first three years of the program as outlined above.

These students will be eligible to apply for entry to other fourth year psychology programs at
Monash (e.g., Postgraduate Diploma of Psychology) or at other universities.
