WORLD CONSTRUCTIONS: 6F & 6L 2003 Major Technology Project: Grade 6 This term our theme of study is The World Around Us. The children will be required to design and create a famous construction / town / village that is prominent in a particular city, country or phase in history. This piece of work is to be made at home and presented in Week 9. The children will need to present a brief plan of their construction at the end of Week 3 (Friday 1st of August). This will include a sketch of the construction, materials to be used and a procedure of how it will be built. Parents and family are invited to help their children with this project. Some examples might be: Ancient Greece> Parthenon, Acropolis. Ancient Rome> Colosseum. Medieval England / Scotland> Castles and Fortresses. Maya, Aztec, Inca Cities. Ancient China / Japan> shrines, pagoda, The Forbidden City. Mosques / Minarets / Buildings of the East> Taj Mahal, Hindu Temples, The Blue Mosque Pacific and African villages. North American Indian villages. Modern Buildings> Eiffel Tower, Empire State Building. Sporting venues> Wimbledon Tennis Centre, Yankee Stadium-New York. ☺ These are just examples and children can use their own ideas as well. ☺ DO NOT CHOOSE AN AUSTRALIAN CONSTRUCTION! As well as the construction, the children will be required to write a written report about their construction and how it was made.
