CANNED FOOD DRIVE
Battle of the Campuses~ Let’s see which campus
can donate the most canned food!!
When: November 2nd - November 20th
Where: Drop your cans off at the Teaching
Fellows Office Poe 408. We will have a sign
up sheet available for you to log your cans!
***5 cans= 1 hour of community service****
There is no maximum!!! You can donate as
many cans as you want, but you can only
earn 1 hour of community service for this
event. Donate! Donate!
COMMUNITY RELATIONS
Operation Christmas Child
What: Bring one filled shoe box to the Teaching
Fellow's office, along with $7 (for shipping) to
receive 3 hours of community service.
Deadline for these to be turned in is Nov. 19th
*An hour (1) of community service can be
earned by dropping the shoe boxes off at the
Samaritan's Purse location*

International Education Week
My Brother, My Sister: African Students in
America
When: Tuesday, Nov. 17th
Time: 7:00 p.m
Where: Room 356, Witherspoon Student Center

Screening of a student produced documentary of interviews of African
students studying at NC State and St. Augustine's College. The
documentary was a joint production of Africana Studies majors at NC State
and Film Studies students at St. Augustine's college. The event will feature
a screening of the film, discussion, and African drumming and dancing by
the performing arts students from St. Augustine's College.
Light refreshments will be served.

A Night Out With……
Jessica Garner- NC Teacher of the Year

FULLER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL-
FIELD EXPERIENCE OPPORTUNITY!
Fuller Elementary School, a partner school with NC State's CSLEPS, is
looking for volunteers to provide childcare at 2 of their Fuller Family
Night events. This is a perfect opportunity for an NC State club or
individual volunteers to assist a local elementary school just 2 miles from
NC State.
Volunteers are needed:
When: Friday October 16th and Friday
November 20th
Time: Volunteer Shift: 4-8pm

FIELD EXPERIENCE- FRED OLDS
Fred Olds Elementary School is looking for
assistance with their University
Connections Program
When: November 9th , 10th , 12th , 13th
Time: 1:00pm - 3:00pm
What: You will be partnering with teachers to
teach engaging, hands-on lessons.
Where: Olds is just off of Hillsborough Street,
towards the west end of campus

FIELD EXPERIENCE-MSEN
MSEN - PRE-COLLEGE PROGRAM
(12 people each date)
Dates = Oct 17th, Oct 31st, Nov 7th , Nov 14th , Dec 5th , Dec
12th (ALL SATURDAYS)
Hours = 7:45 AM - 12:15 PM
Location = Poe Hall
Dress = Professional casual
Duties = Help teachers with instruction, tutor students in course
work from their home schools
Contact = Mr. Clinkscales if you want to volunteer.
FIELD EXPERIENCE –SMARTLUNCH
Athens Drive HS - Athens has a Smartlunch
program that they would like TFs to assist
in tutoring and mentoring. ALL majors
needed during their lunch times
When: 10:20 - 11:20 Mon, Tues, Thur, Fri and
11:10 - 12:10 Wed.
Where: Athens Drive High School- Athens is just
down the road from NC State on Avent Ferry
road - easy walk, bike, bus, or drive.

ORIENTATION COUNSELORS
The office of New Student Orientation is currently recruiting dedicated student
leaders to provide incoming students with a positive experience by serving as
Orientation Counselors for Summer 2010.
Why Should You Apply to be an OC?
As an Orientation Counselor, you will have the opportunity to:
Share all the great things the University has to offer with incoming students;
Gain both leadership and professional experience;
Receive a stipend of $2,200, housing and some meals during the
employment period;
Meet and work with administrators, faculty, staff, and students from across the
University;
Gain time management, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.
