Career to date Sep 08 - Present Freelance Designer/Mac Operator for The Orchard Agency, Manchester. Assignments include: Corporate identity, brochure/prospectus design, catalogue, leisure, direct mail, advertising and web design. Case Study: Concept 4, Nelson – Worked designing prospectuses for schools and colleges and literature for the NHS. Case Study: The Gift Pack Company, Preston – Engaged to produce visuals for packaging projects and amend and prepare for print existing and out-sourced artwork. Case Study: Flowtech, Skelmersdale – I was asked to help out in their in-house studio. The company has a 1,300 page catalogue which has German and Dutch editions. These were artworked in Adobe InDesign but to link up with a new computerised tracking system the artwork needed to be converted to QuarkXPress. I had to take the information and images from both catalogues and recreate a QuarkXPress version with the German and Dutch on separate layers, at the same time there where many amendments, insertions and deletions to make. This job required 100% attention to detail, extensive layout skills and a rapid page completion rate. Case Study: Wigan Council, Wigan – I produced newsletters, leaflets, folders, web banners and general items required by their public relations and marketing departments. Case Study: Blackburn Rover FC, Blackburn – I was brought in to help out in their marketing department, jobs included designing and artworking the clubs 2010 calendar, booklets, posters, tickets, vouchers, web banners/animated giffs and jumbo screen adverts. May 99 - Aug 08 Creative Designer/Mac Operator for Workhouse Creative Marketing, Preston. Duties included design of corporate identity, literature, stationery, brochures, advertising and direct mail. Responsible for monthly catalogues and marketing materials, working to tight deadlines. Skills used: Conceptual thinking, visualising, illustration, copy writing, photography and retouching. Client portfolio included: Business to business, leisure/travel, education, retail and trade. Case Study: The Recycle Works, Preston – The brief was a complete re-brand of the company, including their catalogue, advertising and marketing material, direct mail, e-shots and website (www.recycleworks.co.uk). Case Study: Blackpool and The Fylde College, Blackpool – I was responsible for producing full-page newspaper adverts, mail shots, newsletters and brochures, leaflets and illustrations. Case Study: Stax Trade Centres Plc – Creative marketing campaigns, POS, catalogue design and in-store promotional items. I had to adapt to many in-house systems and working practices while maintaining speed and accuracy. Case Study: Capital Bank, Chester – I was brought in to design posters and a brochure for a new multi-million pound in-house training centre. Case Study: Littlewoods Chain Store – I was responsible for producing a comprehensive 300 page Suppliers’ Bible of clothes label artwork and technical information. This project required complete attention to detail and accuracy. Case Study: Littlewoods Home Shopping, Liverpool – Catalogue artwork and typesetting, working to supplied visuals and brand guidelines. Aug 91 - Mar 97 Creative Designer/Mac Operator for Siren Design, London. I worked as part of a team of 3 designers producing creative solutions for a host of different clients. Client portfolio included: Corporate events, finance, leisure/entertainment, property, retail and travel. Case Study: The Colony Club, Mayfair, London – I beat several other designers to produce an identity for a new multi-million pound luxury casino. I was responsible for all the casino’s literature and branding across a wide range of products from chips and plaques to plates and chopstick packaging.
