MARKETING WORK PLACEMENT
The Marketing Department at the Almeida Theatre currently consists of the Head of
Marketing and Sales, Marketing Campaigns Manager and Marketing Assistant. The newly
revived role of Marketing Intern will provide crucial support to each of these roles, with the
opportunity to work across a range of marketing functions.
The following job description is a guide to the role of the Marketing Work Placement. It is not wholly
comprehensive or restrictive.
Participate in campaign brainstorming and planning sessions with the Marketing team
Undertake research on each production – previous performances, background on the
writer, cast and key creatives
Researching and contacting networks and groups relevant to individual productions
Assist in managing print distribution, including ensuring that the Theatre print supply is
maintained and arranging couriers and recycling
Digital and Email
Assist in generating content for the Almeida’s blog, Twitter and Facebook.
Uploading additional website content relating to individual productions and departments
Assist with the ongoing improvement of the live and archival pages of the website
Sourcing, resizing and uploading images for the website and emails
Sending weekly Previsit and Thank You emails to attenders for current production
Managing email list including removing redundant addresses
Collating and formatting email copy from other theatres and sending reciprocal copy from
(currently focusing on Under 30s, Islington Audiences and Access groups)
Researching and contacting networks and outlets
Writing copy for emails and newsletters
Assisting in the delivery of events
Collating research results
Compiling and updating a database of all Almeida Theatre productions with key credits
Compiling and updating a database of all relevant London and National theatre productions
with key credits
Compiling and updating a database of key annual holidays, festivals and celebrations
Attendance at weekly marketing meetings and fortnightly Comms meetings, taking minutes
Taking cuttings from daily papers

Filing and archiving print, photographs and show files
Editing copy and biographies into house style
General admin and any other reasonable duties required by a member of the Marketing
This role is line managed by the Marketing Campaigns Manager.
An interest in arts marketing and audience development
An enthusiasm for theatre, and in particular the Almeida Theatre’s programme
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent attention to detail
Friendly and approachable, confident in making initial approaches to organisations by email
Ability to work to deadlines
Organised and self-motivated
Reliable and punctual
Applicants must be aged 18 or above
Related training / qualification / experience
Experience of using social media platforms
Experience of using Content Management Systems
A knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel programmes
Previous office experience
Work Placement dates
We are currently recruiting for work placements throughout 2011, with the hope that the first
successful candidate will start in late February / Early March 2011. There is space on the
application form to indicate when you would like to work with us.
Remuneration and Hours
Internships are offered for a minimum of 2 months. You will be asked to work minimum of 2 days
per week; generally, hours of work will be 10am – 6pm but we can offer some flexibility. Specific
details can be discussed if your application is successful.
This is an unpaid position but expenses of up to £5 per day will be paid.
