Despite an 11-17 overall record last season and a ninth-place finish in the Big Ten (5-15), the Buckeyes can look at several bright spots in a less than normal season. Stacey Gordon continued to be a force for Ohio State and the Buckeyes saw the emergence of Briana McCarthy at setter. OSU also received a boost when four-year letter winner D’wan Shackleford chose to come out and play volleyball in her fifth year. Graduation losses from the 2002 season and with four underclassmen not returning proved to be the downfall of the Buckeyes. Post-season honors from the Big Ten came to Gordon who was named All-Big Ten for the third time. Setter McCarthy was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team. Gordon was later selected a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association Mideast Region team for the third time. She was later named an second team AVCA All-American. Gordon was also tabbed as a first team member of the ASICS/Volleyball Magazine All-American Team. 2003 HONORS
