Position Title: Quality Assurance Manager
Reports To: President/CEO
Supervises: Quality Department employees
Develop, implement, and manage quality policies and systems in support of customer
requirements, ISO 9001 certification, and Jones Metal Products, Inc.’s business objectives.
Direct the Quality Department staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Plan and manage the quality department’s activities in accordance with customer
requirements, ISO 9001 certification, and Company business objectives.
Develop, implement and update quality procedures.
Train, coach, and lead employees in the quality systems/procedures utilized.
Generate and maintain monthly and quarterly quality reports (i.e. PPM, customer quality
Act as company ISO representative and continuous improvement facilitator.
Develop, implement, and manage internal audit program.
Address customer and internal Non-Conformances with timely response and appropriate
Create and manage required customer quality documentation relating to First Article
Inspection Reports (PPAP) and Production Quality Plans.
Create, revise and maintain quality documentation required relating to customer
changes and internal process changes.
Manage the processes for calibration of gages and fixtures, corrective and preventative
action, measurement systems analysis, document control, quality record retention,
quality status, specifications and vendor approval.
Maintain open communication with management team and JMP employees regarding
quality issues (i.e. non-conformances, customer quality concerns).
Facilitate Process FMEA activities and periodic Process FMEA review/update.
Assist with Process Capability initiatives and SPC analysis.
Draft internal and external communication pieces regarding Quality.
Oversee supplier development, including approval and problem resolution.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field;
Or have acquired equivalent knowledge through a combination of education and/or
Three years supervisory/management experience in a manufacturing environment with
quality and ISO oversight responsibility.
ASQ certification preferred.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards.
Ability to create and initiate new programs and concepts.
Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
Knowledge of materials in a sheet metal fabrication environment.
Ability to organize and prioritize work for optimum efficiency and meeting deadlines.
Ability to use hand held measuring tools.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as welding symbols, blueprints, safety
rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external
Knowledge and ability to effectively use computer software applications, such as
Microsoft Office, JobBoss and Unipoint.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Moderate physical effort required.
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects,
tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
Frequently required to bend and stoop.
Must regularly lift up to 30 pounds, frequently lift up to 40 pounds, and occasionally lift
up to 70 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and
the ability to adjust focus. Position requires frequent use of a computer monitor.
Work performed in a shop environment: exposed to dust, odors, fumes, heat, loud noise
and other elements.
