Position: Web and Social Media Officer
Location Save the Children International, Hammersmith London
Terms: Full time, fixed term contract until 31st December 2010 (with possibility of extension)
Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 pa depending on experience
Start Date: September 2010 (as soon as possible)

As our Web and Social Media Officer, you’ll use your passion for social media to share our story
with the widest possible range of internal and external audiences. And as the world’s leading
independent organisation for children, we have a compelling story to tell.

As part of our dynamic and highly professional Communications team, you’ll:

      Support our online presence and social media activities relating to our global EVERY
       ONE campaign – as well as activities relating to our other key issues, emergencies,
       education and protection
      Contribute to developing new and innovative strategies in this field
      Integrate our use of social media, including Facebook, Twitter, Myspace and YouTube
      Identify new opportunities to raise our profile
      Take responsibility for our international websites, developing, managing and updating
       these to the highest standards
      Find new and creative ways of communicating our messages
      Gather in-depth feedback from site users, and encourage them to supply user-generated
      Provide insight into our users, advising us on the most effective ways to use social media
       and maximise its full potential
      Offer technical assistance to CMS users, troubleshooting HTML and CSS

You must have:

      A confident, dynamic personality
      An in-depth knowledge of social media and its various forms
      Excellent writing skills, with the ability to produce lively, relevant web copy
      Experience of moderating online communities
      A highly organised approach to your work
      A track record of using content management systems to update websites
      Impressive strategic vision and planning skills
      Ability to work equally well on your own initiative and as part of a team
      Sound editorial skills with a keen eye for detail
      Working knowledge of web technologies or programming languages such as Flash, PHP
       or Javascript
      Awareness of budget management
      Experience of working to deadlines and staying calm under pressure
      Background of supporting, motivating and developing others
