DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR? – Sounds of the Holiday
The Grand Haven Theatre Company was formed in 2003 by two residents of the
Grand Haven Adult Resort Community, in Romeoville, who were former community
theatre performers. By mid-year of 2003, 30 residents auditioned for the Theatre
Company’s first musical, “Off Renwick”. In the last seven years, the Theatre Company,
managed by a volunteer board of directors, has grown to more than 60 members who
create, produce, direct and perform musicals and plays for its own community and outside performances
for other senior communities and nursing homes.

One of its exciting moments, in 2007, the Theatre Company was invited to perform on the professional
stage at the Drury Lane Theatre, in Oak Brook, during the Senior Expo. The Company is currently in
rehearsal for its 2010 holiday show, “Do You Hear What I Hear…the beautiful sounds of Christmas.”
The traveling singers, directed by Lorna Mae Ehlert, of the Grand Haven Theatre Company are pleased to
perform some of the selections of their newest show for guests of Leeza’s Place on Tuesday, December 7.

Our Lady of Angels was founded in 1962 by the Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate, as

dietary programs to accommodate a myriad of conditions and special needs, instated a
Medicare-certified therapy program, and extended its nursing services to 24 hour
availability of care. Following the mission of the founding Sisters, Our Lady of Angels has
evolved into a complete Continuum of Care, and is one of the only establishments in the
Joliet Area to offer all of the following, under one roof: Independent Living, Assisted Living,

Joliet, IL 60435 At OLA, one of our most significant objectives is to provide individualized care for each
815-553-4113 resident as his or her level of need changes. Imagine never having to leave the comfort of

grooming, transferring or are completely independent. The continuum of care offered at Our

Once you cross the threshold, you will find that OLA offers, not only quality care, but a wide variety of other services
and programs including, daily mass (also available to the larger community), field trips to locations including the
Morton Arboretum and Bicentennial Park, as well as an in-house beauty/barber shop, gift shop, and library.

While Our Lady of Angels has always taken pride in the care provided, we are always looking for ways to improve
ourself, and create a more loving, home-environment for each and every resident. Our mission is, not only to
service, but to be sensitive to the ever-changing needs of our community.

to stop by anytime to say hello, visit, or use any of our resources.

“People gain so much hope when they know they are not experiencing something alone.”
                                                                                    ~ Joyce Rupp, Alive Now
“At the end of the year, we often take some time to look back on the year to see what we have accomplished
(or what we wanted to do and didn’t get done). We also look back on the year, and with much hurt in our heart,
remember those who we have lost. I just lost my beloved pet cat, Ushi, of 15 years. Going through any kind of
loss is unbearable to do it alone. Thankfully, I didn’t have to go through this loss alone. I have a wonderful
support system of family and friends who were there for me, who cried with me, and who laughed with me when
we remembered sillier, happier times. Reflecting on this past year, I see things so much differently. From our
mountain climb this summer to honor caregiver’s, to talking with people who have sustained their own losses,
I see with new eyes just how important Leeza’s Place is to so many. Leeza’s Place is really about hope, and
knowing that anyone who walks through our doors will not have to experience their journey alone. Artwork by Cindi Lynch
May this holiday season bring hope, love, and peace to your healing heart.”
