OMEGA FILES PATENT INFRINGEMENT LAWSUIT AGAINST THREE CANADIAN
               AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS DISTRIBUTORS

Dispute involves Fortin Auto Radio, Inc.; Importel, LTD; and Autoland and centers on sales
of aftermarket data bus integration modules and technologies covered by Omega patents

DOUGLASVILLE, GA – April 1, 2004 – Omega Research and Development, Inc., a leader in
vehicle security innovations for more than 30 years, today announced its patent licensing
arm, Omega Patents, LLC, has filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court for the
Middle District of Florida, against Fortin Auto Radio, a Canadian manufacturer of vehicle
data bus products. The suit also names Autoland, a Canadian automotive products
distributor, and Importel, an auto products retailer based in Canada. Omega claims the
three companies are currently selling products into the United States that are in violation of
its patents covering vehicle data communications bus products, including interfaces that can
remotely control certain vehicle functions.

Just prior to the lawsuit being filed, a fourth Canadian auto products distributor, Bomar of
Canada, settled with Omega. Bomar settled to thereby protect its dealers and distributors
from being included in this patent infringement lawsuit.

The asserted patents are based on years of research and development focused on the
automobile manufacturing industry’s smart car innovations and technologies that reside in
the communications data bus module or brain of newer models of individual automobiles. As
data bus modules are further developed by car manufacturers to deliver a broader range of
applications, Omega has the patented security solutions aftermarket installers and factory
assembly lines will need to meet consumer demand well into the future.

“After spending months working tirelessly toward a fair agreement, it became clear that
Omega had no choice but to file this lawsuit to protect our patents; our licensed Canadian
distributor, Trilogix; our licensed U.S. company, Omega Research and Development; and
ultimately the consumers of legally distributed Omega patented products,” said Ken Flick,
president of Omega. “As committed as we are to providing the aftermarket and automobile
manufacturing industry with the best vehicle security solutions available, Omega is just as
dedicated to the enforcement of our patents. “Omega is a true leader in patented data bus
solutions and technologies,” explained Flick. “We have no tolerance for patent infringement
and we will continue to vigorously enforce our patents to the fullest extent of the law.”
