SymbioCity is an initiative by the Swedish government through the Swedish Trade Council, aiming for sustainable urban development worldwide.
Why the Twin-City Energy Forum?
Energy is a strategic issue and a high-profile topic in the European region in 2009. As part of an energy and climate package, the EU has set itself the target to reduce green house gases by 20% and increase its energy efficiency by 20% up to the year of 2020. During the Swedish EU Presidency from July 1st energy will be one of the key topics. The twin-city Energy Forum will give you a unique and time efficient insight into the dynamic region Vienna-Bratislava – the closest capitals in Europe. Even though the distance between the two capitals is not more than 60 km, they represent large differences in demands and opportunities for Swedish companies. During the two days the topic of energy efficiency in the two countries will be highlighted, focusing on interesting topics for the local markets and dynamics for the region.
In Austria
environmentally friendly energy is a prioritized topic with long political tradition. Both Austria and
Sweden are forerunners within energy with a number of “top of mind” brands to emphasize this. Austria possesses
world leading core competences within solar energy, bio mass, hydro technology and district heating.
These core competences show a good match with the Swedish competences and outline favorable opportunities for cooperation and know-how transfer.

often require strict criteria for energy and environmental protection to be followed. The Slovak government, especially in time of financial crisis, supports sustainable solutions in construction by e.g. financial incentives for solar energy and insulation of flats and houses. This creates good Slovak Innovation and Energy Agency.
