Why WordPress
• WordPress is a blogging and content management (CMS)
system that is:
• Free
• Reasonably user-friendly / Simple
• Supports multiple authors for a site or blog
• Has a large community of developers, designers, and
users (also detractors!)
• Lots of custom plugins, themes, and ideas to get
you started

rather than blog posts

site
Make your URLs pretty

WordPress.org - With Great Power Comes Great
Responsibility
• You will be responsible for upgrading your software every
few months.
• Usually, this is a 1-click process
• You should do it, because of security concerns
• Upgrade WordPress, as well as plugins
• Keep up with security info on your WordPress Dashboard
www.techliminal.com
But that seems like a lot of work
• About 2 hours every few months
• Lots more if you get hacked
• So back up your site and stay informed
You can hire someone to do this for you

What Next?
• WordPress Building Blocks, and learning how to use the
Editor.
