December 2010

Dearly Beloved,

During Advent, our Sunday readings from Isaiah are full of the vision and promise of
peace, shalom, wholeness and healing. I invite you to sink into those promises and let
them heal your hearts wherever they may be broken. Notice the violence that you inflict
on yourself—judging, condemning, criticizing, name calling—and know that you too are
the incarnation of Divine Life and what you would not do to your neighbor, do not do to
yourself. Consider the things you love to do in this season which buoy your spirit, and
keep them. Those things you do that are burdensome, demands of the culture, let them
go. Join us at St. Gregory’s for prayer, music, scripture, fellowship, and celebration to
feed you—body, mind and spirit—and remind you of the love that is with you and for
you always.

Blessings and peace,

Beth

Celebrate Life

with Catherine Drewry, who completed a 2-year study program "Foundations in Christian
Formation" and received a certificate at this year’s Diocesan Council.

All Saints Chapel is what Bishop

Keith named the new chapel where we have been having Children’s Church. It is in the
Christian Education Building – take a look!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

St. Nicholas will visit the 10:30 service on December 5th!!!

The first Christmas pageant practice is scheduled for after the 10:30 service next Sunday,
December 5, from 12:15 until 1:30.
There are parts for all children and all abilities. We'll have sandwich makings to eat right
after church in the parish hall, or bring your own lunch. We'll go over our script, assign
parts, and begin practicing. Future practice times to be announced. Please contact
Catherine Drewry at 706-743-3592 or 706-201-7241 or the church office if your child
wants to participate but cannot be at this practice. Otherwise, just show up, and we'll sort
it all out!

Children’s Sunday School

Sunday School and Children's Church will not meet on the Sundays right before and after
Christmas

(December 19 and 26). We will have pageant practice from 9:15 - 10:15 on December
19, however. The nursery will be open on December 26 for the 10:30 service only.

Please save any pieces of Styrofoam from electronics or other items that you may receive
over the holidays. The Sunday school students will construct a model of a temple for the
January Christian Ed. rotation. Thanks!

Christmas Flowers

If you would like to contribute towards the flowers for the Christmas altar, please fill out
one of the red forms in the narthex or the parish hall, or call the church office at 706-546-
7553. The suggested donation is $10. If you want to take a poinsettia home, you may pick
it up on Epiphany.

Stewardship

It is not too late to turn in a pledge form for 2011. Pledge forms for 2011 (on sunflower
colored paper) can be found in the narthex and the parish hall. Please fill one out and
drop it into the collection plate or leave it at the church office.

We would be grateful if you would return your pledges by Sunday, December 5, so that
the 2011 budget may be prepared. So far 77 pledges to support St. Gregory’s in 2011
have been received for a total of $ 225,756. Thank you!

Contribution Envelopes
If you like to use individual contribution envelopes for 2011, they are available in the
parish hall. If you take a pack, please leave your name on the accompanying sheet.

enter your heart this Christmas Season. All are welcome!
