The Network Journal Launches Its Redesigned Web Portal

Site Features Multiple News Categories and User-Interactive Channels in an Attractive, Visitor-Friendly Layout. The Network Journal, the popular black magazine for African American entrepreneurs, has redesigned its portal, giving more space to news items and user-interactive channels. Intuitive navigational tools, multiple news beats and a highly reader-specific information section make it easier for visitors to grab more information from the portal in one visit. “As a black magazine, we strive to deliver business news and information pertinent to Black professionals and Black business owners in an organized manner. That’s why we’ve streamlined the TNJ portal, adding more exciting channels like current news, technology, career, lifestyle, personal finance and TNJ events on the page, as well as access to the print magazine,” said Aziz Gueye Adetimirin, The Network Journal’s founder, publisher and CEO. “What makes us different from other publications is precisely this variety of topics that we cover and provide to readers in an easy-to-access manner. Our goal is to become a one-stop resource of choice for black professionals and black business owners seeking the latest news and trends in business, entrepreneurship, finance, technology, health and entertainment.” Attractively laid out, the redesigned portal provides major news highlights on its main page, including U.S. and global business reports. New featured sections include Personal Finance, which is divided into tax, real estate, investment and retirement segments, and Lifestyle, which covers such topics as autos, health & fitness, travel, photo galleries and arts & entertainment. One of the best additions on the portal is the Entrepreneurs channel, which offers business advice and profiles of some of the most successful black business owners at both local and national levels. User-interactive features include Blogs, a Career Center and a daily Poll. Visitors can also submit events to the Calendar of Events, and press releases to the Press Releases section. These free listings must first be approved by TNJ. “We’re all excited about the portal. TNJ was one of the first African American magazines to have a presence on the Web. Now that we have given that presence a new shape and structure, we expect an increase in the number of visitors looking for news and information about the black professionals and black entrepreneurs, especially black business women,” said Rosalind McLymont, TNJ’s editor-in-chief.
