Provides leadership for the University’s e-learning efforts, working collaboratively with academic
units to identify programmatic opportunities for online degrees, certificates, and courses.
Develops external collaborations for e-learning content and partnerships. Assumes
accountability for the financial stability of the e-learning program. Directs the Center for e-
Learning, which provides both faculty and student training, support, and resources for online
academic offerings. Responsible for expanding high-quality e-learning efforts and increasing
University enrollments. Seeks grant funding for e-learning projects. Supervises assigned
personnel. Interacts professionally with all internal and external customers using strong
interpersonal skills.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree. Five years experience directly related to distance
learning and/or instructional technology. Two years of supervisory experience. Strong verbal
and written communication skills. Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines. Ability to
communicate and persuade at all management levels and thrive in a cross-functional
environment. Demonstrated student focus and an understanding of managing a service
organization. Experience managing departmental budgets.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D or Ed.D. Experience in online course development and/or in
teaching in an online environment, WebCT/Blackboard preferred. At least two years of
experience managing a distance learning organization within higher education. Marketing and
market research experience. Grant writing experience.

Cleveland State University is a public institution established in 1964, with an undergraduate,
graduate, and professional enrollment of about 16,000 students. Our 85-acre metropolitan
campus is in the heart of downtown Cleveland. CSU offers affordable, quality academic
programs with more than 200 major fields of study. About 150 courses were offered online each
semester in 2008-2009. Several online and blended degrees and certificates are available, with
more under development. The Center for eLearning was formed in 2006 to provide
instructional design support, media development services, program coordination, and student
services facilitation for elearning at Cleveland State University. The Center’s goal is to promote
the growth of more educational opportunities and access for learners through the development
of elearning programs. The Center reports to the Dean of Continuing Education.
