This partnership is part of a National Clinical Trials Network established by the National Institute on Drug Abuse to bridge
the gap between research and practice in drug abuse treatment. Universities and treatment providers jointly develop
protocols that address the unmet treatment needs of substance abusers, and implement effectiveness studies at the front-
lines of treatment, at the provider agencies - using their own counselors.
