KCPPA END OF YEAR NEWSLETTER
Dear Parents This is the end of my first year as Chair of the KCPPA and it has been quite an eventful one for both the committee and the school itself. Under the strong leadership of Sally‐Anne Huang I am sure you will agree that the school has gone from strength to strength both educationally and pastorally. As I walk around the school, which I do often, I see young, confident and above all happy girls secure in their environment willing to learn and take on new challenges. This time last year we had our first joint venture with the Prep school, The Crystal Ball. This was a resounding success raising £8000 for the school and £14,000 for KC Nepal. We are currently researching the viability of some future funds from our events going to help two KC girls fly out to KC Nepal for ‘work Experience. At home we have funded more of the fantastic Confidence Course, Swimming Pool Mosaics, Science block Fish Tank and Form prizes for Speech Day. Another first was the Sing A Long with Tonbridge boys hopefully forging a continued relationship with them. In April the Beauty evening was a great success where girls, mums and staff enjoyed being made‐up, manicured, massaged and made over. The Quiz night on the 26th June was the best attended in KCPPA history. We had a full house of 120 parents, staff and 6th formers managing to raise some much needed funds for on going ‘teachers wish lists’. A big thank you to everyone who contributed to making the evening such a success. This year the committee are loosing their two much thought of male members Andrew Waters and David Cox. Their contributions will be sorely missed. With this in mind if there are any fathers out there who would like to get involved with the KCPPA we would welcome you. It’s not just a ‘Girl thing’ indeed the Prep School have had a father for Chair for the past year! So please, if you are interested don’t hesitate to contact me via school reception. Forthcoming events are: * 13th November 2009 / Yr8 – Yr10 Disco * 5th December 2009 / Christmas Flower Workshop Please look out for further information in the school mailing or your daughters’ bags. I would value any suggestions or comments that you may have regarding future events. Or indeed if you wish to join the KCPPA or know more about us, please visit the KC website and click on ‘administration’. May I take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support in helping all our daughters to enhance their school lives at Kent College. I hope you all have a warm and enjoyable summer.
