Mixed Nationals, what a great tournament for CFFC – Credo wins (again), Ethos takes out spirit and Psyche plays some fantastic ultimate…and then there were all those costume prizes. So let’s do the same in Wellington at the Women’s and Men’s tournament – all the details about this are below. And because it’s Christmas time and you can’t really have too many Christmas parties, we’re having a Christmas function at New Brighton again this year. Local Events
Christmas function
Following on from the mixed success of last year’s Christmas barbecue (the wind and sand were too much for playing ultimate, but the barbecue was fantastic), we’re going to try a re-run. On Sunday 21 December, ultimate will be at the beach at New Brighton (at the end of Rawhiti Avenue) followed by a barbecue at Kat and Sammy’s place (28 Pratt Street). Summer league
The next summer outdoor league will start on Monday 12 January at 6:30pm. If you’re keen to play, let Vanessa know and she’ll put you in a team. Training
Just because Mixed Nationals are over, it doesn’t mean that there won’t be any training - there’s the Women’s and Men’s tournament to train for. This tournament is being held in Wellington on 4-5 April. Training will be on Thursday nights and will start in the new year. Until then, there will be pick-up on Thursday nights. Women: Penny, Kelly and Mel are the coaches for the women’s team. If you’re interested in playing, please give your name to Penny. Men: Mike, Karl, Dave and Colin are the coaches for the men’s team. If you’re interested in playing, please give your name to Karl.
Skills workshop
This workshop will be held shortly after the university year starts and will be designed to teach new people the basics of ultimate. It will also be a good chance for people who have been playing for a while to brush up on their skills, as well as meet the new players. Boutique Beach, Hawkes Bay
This beach tournament is played at Waipatiki Beach, Hawkes Bay. Numbers are limited to 42, so get your name in fast if you’re interested (early bird registrations close on 5 February). Ocean Beach, Whangarei
And because there’s no such thing as too much beach ultimate, there’s a beach tournament in Whangarei the weekend after the Boutique Beach tournament. WaM National Tournament
This tournament is our chance to prove just how dominant Christchurch is on the New Zealand ultimate scene.
