PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Research Assistant will be responsible for providing research support for the
Project Manager and Research Coordinators in the development and
implementation of project studies. The employee will participate as part of the
research team through assistance with data collection, performing data quality
checks, maintaining datasets and performing other task associated with
research.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
Recruit study participants.
Gathering data from records, through interviews, questionnaires, and by
observation; organizing, tracking, and coding data as necessary.
Designing of survey questionnaires and development of forms and
procedures for gathering and processing data.
Understanding and adhere to established research protocols.
Maintaining strict subject and data confidentiality.
Maintaining project and data filing systems.
Checking data for completeness and accuracy.
Preparing letters, tables, charts, graphs, maps, statistical tables and other
visual aids as necessary.
Performing office tasks associated with research, such as preparing
materials, filing, copying, library searches, data entry and other duties as
required.
Participating as part of research team by attending meetings.
Scheduling and documenting advisory council meetings.

Providing technical assistance for web database users.
Assisting in the editing and formatting of progress reports, grant
applications and related materials.
May make oral presentations utilizing displays and other audio-visual aids
as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience- Two years of experience in data gathering and analysis , statistical
analysis, technical research or a closely related field. College education may be
substituted for the required experience on the basis that two year college may be
substituted for one-year experience. Familiarity with health and social issues
facing American Indians/Alaska Natives and a desire to promote the delivery of
appropriate health services to this population.
Knowledge of:
American Indian and Alaska Native health and social issues preferred.
Health related research preferred.
Ability to:
Proficiently use software programs such as Windows, Word, Excel,
Powerpoint, and Access.
Learn to use new software such as: Adobe, Pagemaker, and statistical
analysis software..
Prepare charts, graphs, maps, statistical tables and other visual aids.
Understand and follow complex oral and written instructions.
Maintain accurate written records and to prepare clear, concise written
reports.
Ability to multi-task and take direction from more than one person.
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates,
superiors, public officials, and representative of other agencies and
organizations, and with the general public.
Work independently with limited supervision.
Prioritize tasks, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Work occasional evening and weekend hours, although majority of work
will be performed during regular business hours.
