 POSITION PURPOSE

 As a senior manager, the Group Manager Commercial Analysis will provide leadership, direction and support to the Board, Managing
 Director, Executive and employees on all aspects of commercial performance.

 The Group Manager Commercial Analysis is principally responsible for providing the Corporation with management accounting and
 analysis. As the leader of the Commercial Analysis Group, the Group Manager is responsible for coordinating and delivering the
 Corporation’s Annual Budget and Statement of Corporate Intent, preparing regular financial forecasts, providing interpretation of financial
 performance of all divisions on a regular basis and provision of ad hoc commercial support as requested.

 The Group Manager Commercial Analysis leads a professional team of more than 12. The team typically have a minimum of a degree in a
 commercial field and many have undertaken post graduate studies. It is critical to the success of Finance that the Manager leads this
 professional team effectively and has well developed management and delegation skills.

 KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
 Leadership
      Take a key leadership role within the overall Finance team. Support the achievement of the goals set out in the Finance Plan. Lead
       the development and implementation of the Finance “culture”.
      Build, develop and maintain a highly effective and high performance Commercial Analysis Group, including providing regular
       performance coaching professional development for the team.
      Provide support and advice to the General Manager Finance and the Executive General Manager Finance and Risk on financial and
       commercial aspects of strategic corporate issues.
      Develop strong and productive relationships with relevant stakeholders, including but not limited to: NSW Treasury, all EGMs and
       other key users of commercial analysis and important suppliers of information and insight. This includes being able to influence
       stakeholders to alter business behaviour and thereby improve financial outcomes.
      Identify process efficiencies and opportunities within finance and the business, and take a lead role in facilitating the improvement
       efforts required.


 Research and Forecasting
      Ensure that relevant industry issues are researched and the implications for Country Energy are understood. This requires the
       Commercial Analysis team to have excellent knowledge of Country Energy’s strategy and direction and the industry and commercial
       environment in which Country Energy operates.
      Assist in the development, analysis and reporting of strategically aligned business objectives and performance criteria for Country
       Energy and its business units to enable business success through performance measurement and enhancement.


 Budgeting and Planning
      Facilitate the preparation of annual budgets for Country Energy consistent with the commercial goals of Country Energy and those of
       the individual business units.
      Support executive presentations to ensure key stakeholders are properly apprised of critical financial performance issues for
       Country Energy and the Divisions.
      Lead the development of the annual Statement of Corporate Intent.

 Analysis and Reporting
      Manage the preparation of monthly financial reports and other reports for the Executive Team and other senior managers to ensure
       the commercial success of the business.
      Collect information from across the wider business and then work closely with the other Group Managers in Finance to ensure
       relevant business inputs for all financial reports are provided on a timely basis. Ensure management commentary and business
       insight is included in the monthly Board report
      Provide key financial strategy and commercial advice to the divisions and evaluation to ensure alignment with business objectives.
       Pro-actively advise the Executive General Managers and senior managers in the relevant business units of key trends in
       performance and assist key people in these business units to understand their performance and improve commercial performance.
      Drive the understanding and application of key corporate commercial performance indicators across business units so that a
       consistent approach in assessing and improving commercial value is applied across Country Energy.
      Assist in scenario analysis of relevant business units and business activities to optimise the commercial success of these
       businesses by identifying key opportunities and risks.
      Assist in commercial evaluations of projects, products, tenders and pricing in conjunction with key personnel to ensure the
       commercial success of projects.
      Promote sound practices for internal control, process development and documentation and performance measurement to limit the
       risk of financial loss to Country Energy.
      Proactively identify and notify the General Manager Finance of key financial indicators of financial business risks to Country Energy
       and identify and implement strategies to mitigate these risks.

     Contribute to the development of strategic plans and corporate policy for the organisation and participate in decision making on
      relevant strategic and operational issues ensuring all actions taken enhance corporate consistency, quality and the achievement of
      overall business success.

     Develop, implement and manage business strategies, plans and budgets for the Commercial Analysis function to achieve business
      objectives and meet statutory, customer, community, environmental and shareholder obligations.

     Promote and drive a strong safety culture by ensuring that work is carried out in a safe and environmentally sound manner.

     Create a working environment that empowers all employees to take ownership of their work, encouraging innovative thinking and a
      flexible and enthusiastic work culture.

     Provide leadership, direction, guidance and development opportunities for all employees associated with corporate responsibility to
      ensure they have the skills, motivation and resources to achieve business objectives.

     Initiate and maintain positive interactions with other stakeholders.

     Prepare and present position papers and reports on key business issues of interest and provide accurate and complete information,
      authoritative analysis, advice and sound recommendations for action.

      Maintain appropriate records
      Assist with the development of objectives and targets and management programmes
      Regularly review the effectiveness of the OHS & E Management System
      Provide adequate resources to ensure implementation of the OHS & E Management System
      Regularly consult and communicate both Country Energy and local safety & environment related information with their staff
      Ensure risk assessments are compliant with HIRACs and SWMS
      Ensure incidents are reported, investigated and actioned in a timely and appropriate manner
      Ensure injuries are managed in accordance with Worker's Compensation and Injury Management Policy.

 SKILLS,KNOWLEDGES AND EXPERIENCE
      Possess outstanding management, communication, negotiation, and decision making skills.

      Possess intellectual curiosity (seeking out new information) and intellectual integrity (the ability to robustly defend your ideas)
      Hold relevant tertiary qualifications in a relevant Commercial Discipline (Accounting or Finance Post-Graduate Qualifications and
       membership of a recognised professional body will be highly regarded) and possess extensive Finance knowledge (minimum of 5
       years experience leading a professional team), and understanding of relevant regulatory and policy requirements.

      Demonstrate a track record of delivering change in culture, process and systems in a finance context.
      Demonstrate capacity to successfully manage broad responsibilities and complex issues at senior organisational levels.

      Excellent financial and commercial skills.

      Demonstrated team leadership and development skills.

      Strong analytical skills and an understanding of Financial Modelling, development of Key Performance Indicators and Shareholder
       Value Added analysis techniques

      Strong interpersonal skills.

      Very strong financial analysis and Microsoft Excel skills.

      Strong communication skills including: report writing, presentation skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate complex
       financial information to non-Financial audiences.
