(815) 464-6069 rmatlock@speechplus.org JULY MESSAGE by Nick Ahrens, Member Education Committee Chair I am confused! Should I be Linkedin? Is there a difference between MySpace and Facebook? Do I “yelp” or do people “yelp” at me? And what exactly does the Channel 5 News Team mean when they ask me to “twitter” Zoraida Sambolin? Looking at her, I must admit that it sounds like a fun thing to do - but I am not really sure. More important is my confusion about the possible business potential and applications of these online networking media. Are any of these areas that I should be focusing my attention and resources to connect and inform and attract new clients? Fortunately, Brian Tomkins with Nextvoice247, an expert in helping business owners develop social media strategies, will bring some clarity to our confusion as the guest speaker at our next 60 Minute Member Ed lunch session on July 15 at Enrico’s. The doors open at 11:45 a.m. and lunch is served at noon. The cost is $10 to Chamber members ($12 non-members). Our event sponsor, (Jeannine) Skarbek-Kubas Marketing & Design, will also add insight as her business specializes in all areas of marketing. You need to know that this event is limited to the first 45 people who register (by phone or on the Chamber website) and that our first two events were sold out – so you may want to register today. You may also want to consider our Sept. 16 lunch session when our topic will be Customer Retention. Sometimes clarity can also come from unlikely sources and in unusual ways. My wife was reading over my shoulder as I was writing this and she informed me that I would not be “twittering” Zoriada anytime soon. Even though my wife also does not know what “twittering” is, she has seen Zoriada - and that is all she needs to know. Nick is Pastor of Bridge Community Church in Frankfort. Businesses will be randomly selected so call the Chamber office to be placed on the list. CertaPro Painters of New Lenox Don Rollheiser www..certapro.com/donaldrollheiser drollheiser@certapro.com CertaPro Painters of New Lenox is a full service Interior and Exterior, Residential and Commercial painting contractor. What sets them apart from their competition is the “certainty” they bring to the process, from the time Don arrives to do the estimate, until the crew leaves the completed job site. It is an experience without surprises. Their territory is comprised of Frankfort, Mokena, New Lenox, Shorewood, Joliet, Manhattan…virtually everything South of I-80. CertaPro Painters of New Lenox has quickly become one of the premier painting contractors in the Frankfort area. Whether residential or commercial, no job is too big. Last fall, Don’s company completed extensive interior and exterior restoration work to the Stratton mansion in Morris, Illinois. It was built in the late 1800’s and was the home of Illinois Governor William Stratton. Don said, “The exterior was a bit of a challenge. We had to maneuver a 45’ man lift in very tight quarters in order to reach the 3rd floor (pictures of the successfully completed project can be seen on their web site at www.certapro.com/donaldrollheiser). Fans of WBBM-780 news radio may have heard the spring radio campaign with popular sportscaster Josh Liss extolling the virtues of CertaPro Painters. “We really did paint Josh’s house in Evanston so he could talk about the CertaPro “experience”. Josh and his family were great and I must admit, every time I hear him talk about “Don and his friendly crew” it is a bit of a rush!” Don is active in the Frankfort Chamber and is a member of the Golf Committee. This year, he will “own a hole” at the outing and is planning some surprises at “his” hole. Don is also one of the founding members of the Chicagoland CertaPro Co-op. Growing up in the Beverly neighborhood of Chicago, Don attended Marist High School and graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Business Management from Illinois State University. Upon graduation, Don founded Don’s Auto Parts, Inc. It quickly became one of the premier suppliers of quality recycled auto parts to body shops, repair shops and dealerships throughout Chicagoland. They were one of the first parts recyclers to use computer inventory tracking. After nearly 30 years in the business, Don was ready to take on new challenges. He sold Don’s Auto Parts and, upon extensive investigation and due diligence, decided CertaPro Painters was a perfect fit. Four years later, his only regret is “I wish I had made the jump sooner. I love what I am doing for a living and, sadly, few people today can say that”. Don and his wife of 25 years Lisa, a teacher at Mother McAuley High School are long time residents of Palos Park. They have a daughter Brittany who is a junior at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana majoring in Advertising. In his “free” time, Don is an avid fly fisherman, pheasant hunter, golfer, tennis player and “far too many other things” according to his wife. CertaPro Painters of New Lenox… they take the “pain” out of painting! 7 2009 FRANKFORT FALL FESTIVAL PARADE APPLICATION 8 BUSINESS AFTER HOURS Thank You to Our Recent Hosts.
