                       By Dr. Panas Simasathien
                        the Chairman of NESDB
At Signing Ceremony of the Memorandum of
Understanding between the JBIC and NESDB

H.E. Hideaki Kobayashi,
Dr. Ampon Kittiampon,
Mr. Izumi Arai,
Distinguished guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is also my honor and pleasure to witness this memorable event which lays
down the solid foundation of partnership between JBIC and NESDB.

Today, as H.E. Kobayashi has already mentioned, the relationship between
Thailand and Japan is stronger than ever. The signing of MOU between JBIC
and NESDB today shows that the history of our close relationship has
seamlessly continued to the present and will be fostered for the future of our
two countries relations.

On this, I am pleased to note that our two organizations, JBIC and NESDB,
have shared similar views on the importance of sustainable socio-economic
development and play active role to broaden the prosperity of the region.

Our two organizations have also been working closely together on many
issues, from expanding infrastructure to capacity building in various sectors,
from national competitiveness to rural community development. Common
challenges, shared values, and shared vision of the future of our region make
it very natural for the two organizations to foster cooperation with each other.

Let our close cooperation continue, and indeed further expand, in areas
where we have shared interest.

In closing, let me express my sincere gratitude and congratulations to JBIC
and NESDB. I strongly believe that this MOU will lift our partnership to a
higher level and will lead to increase benefits to the people of the two
countries.

Thank you.
