On Wednesday 7 November, Tunstall Response, in cooperation with Blue Care and Eko Living, showcased the ‘Queensland Smart Home’, a joint collaboration of technology focused organisations committed to proving assistive technologies that allow our aging population to remain independent in their own homes. The Smart House open day took place the day before the ACQ conference, giving industry professionals from all over Queensland the opportunity to see Tunstall and other collaborating company’s assistive technology in action. A hot topic at the ACQ conference, Dr George Margelis from Intel spoke at the conference about assistive technologies and his work with Tunstall in the UK in this field. Collaborative partner Mike Clarke from the University of Southern Queensland also spoke at the conference about assistive technology and the Smart Home initiative. At the Smart House, people can view products such as Tunstall’s emergency response alarms, fall sensors, bed sensors, home occupancy and movement sensors, and exist sensors in action. All of these products aim to provide individuals with the confidence and assistance to remain independent in their own home for longer.
