              THE NATION OF ISLAM
                 DNA CONFERENCE
           ‘THE NATIONAL DNA DATABASE
Is it being used to seek out and destroy our future
                              geniuses?’
                          PRESS RELEASE

Present day Britain. Exclusions from school are up. Imprisonment of the
young is on the increase. Black youth are portrayed as failures.

The retaining on a national database of the DNA of all individuals detained by
police is a controversial issue that has drawn arguments for and against, from
politicians and public alike.

There are supporters of the Metropolitan police view that the retaining of DNA
on a national database makes a significant contribution to the solving of
crimes and securing convictions.

Alternatively, civil liberties groups and family members of the public whose
DNA has wrongly lead to their arrest and court appearance, argue that this is
an abuse of human rights, and that this so called ‘evidence’ should be
destroyed where no charge has been brought.

A more significant concern for members of the Black community is that
statistics show that 57% of innocent DNA samples taken in London alone are
from black people. This despite the group making up just 2.9% of the national
population.

Such a drastic disproportionate picture obviously leads to questions being
asked as to why such an imbalance exists, and what does this mean for the
future of Black youth in the present climate?

The Nation of Islam UK will be holding a conference titled:
‘THE NATIONAL DNA DATABASE – Is it being used to seek out and
                     destroy our future geniuses?’
Lead by specialist panel members from, NDNAD Ethics Group, GeneWatch
UK and the Metropolitan Black Police Association with detailed knowledge
and interest around this subject, the conference will be seeking to address
issues such as:

   • The implications of the over disproportionate representation of Black
people on The NDNAD and explore how this affects the Black
       community.
   • How DNA is used and the possible misuse once on the NDNAD
   • How to ‘reclaim your DNA’ and take part in the government
consultation about whose DNA and fingerprint records should be kept
       and for how long

This is an important and timely subject to be addressed by those who are
greatly concerned at the increasingly decaying civil liberties of British subjects
in the UK.

“The National DNA database is one of the most intrusive criminal intelligence
systems that have ever been constructed. DNA is the root of our being and stems all
the way back to the self-creation of God Almighty.
Our DNA lists all of the achievements in our great ancestry and those who have an
invested interest in targeting the Black community, who have an understanding of
this knowledge, are busy creating an environment that is overriding the greatness in
our DNA.”
(Minister Hilary Muhammad the UK Representative of the Honourable Minister
Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam).

This event is to be held on Sunday June 28th 2009 4.00pm – 7.00pm at the
Nation of Islam UK Headquarters, 1-5 Hinton Road, Brixton London SE24
OHJ
