                 COLLAGEN INJECTION
                 INFORMATION SHEET
WHAT IS COLLAGEN?
   Natural protein that cushions and supports the skin.
   Derived from purified animal collagen, which has been treated and purified.
   Our skin normally contains this collagen framework of interwoven fibres.
   Age, disease, injury or sun wears down this layer of support and a line ("wrinkle") or scar forms.

WHAT IS COLLAGEN USED FOR?
To smooth out wrinkles, and, make acne and other types of scars less obvious.

TYPES OF COLLAGEN?
   Zyderm I: for fine lines e.g. around eyes
   Zyderm II: for thicker lines e.g. chin, above lips.
   Zyplast:   for deep seeded lines e.g. Nasolabial fold (deep smile line) and Paris lips

PRE TEST:
   A simple skin test is carried out on the arm first, to eliminate the possibility of having an allergic
    reaction (redness, swelling, pain).
   Three days later the skin test the area is looked at. One month later, if there is no reaction, we can
    go ahead with the procedure.

PROCEDURE
   A cream is applied for 20 minutes to numb the area first.
   The collagen is injected directly into the skin using the finest needles.
   The procedure takes half an hour and is performed in our clinic.
   You may go home immediately.

WHAT TO EXPECT?
   Improvement is immediate
   Effects lasts six months to 2 years
   A booster or top up treatment is advisable every 6 to 12 months.

POST OPERATION
   No make up for 24 hours.
   Massage the area gently to mould the collagen to the area required.

CAN I HAVE ANY OTHER TYPES OF TREATMENT?
Most definitely. Ask for our information sheets about all the other type of procedures which will enhance
the softness of your skin, and help eliminate those unsightly lines:

         BEFORE SURGERY

BEFORE YOUR TREATMENT
   Ensure that you have had a test dose before your first treatment.
   Do not wear any make-up or alternatively this can be removed with cleaners in the Centre
    prior to treatment.
   If you wish to apply local anaesthetic cream to the areas to be treated you will need to arrive
    a half hour before your appointment to achieve the full benefit of the cream.
   The desired result may not be achieved with one treatment. Be prepared for optimal results,
    by having a further treatment several months later.
   As collagen is an ongoing treatment, you may need to come every six to thirty six months.
    Feel free to discuss your specific needs with our doctor or nurses.

AFTER YOUR TREATMENT
   Do not apply any make-up to the area until the next morning.
   Any redness or crusts should settle in 24 to 48 hours.
   Any small lumps under the skin can be massaged with a moisturiser several times a day until
    gone.
   Please notify us of any persisting lumpiness, redness or itching to the treated area.
