HEART HUGGER™ – Sternum Support Harness Product Information A SIMPLE, EASY TO USE SUPPORT HARNESS fitting over the shoulder, a four inch wide, Veclro™ adjustable chest belt, encircling the entire chest, finished with handles on either end. The chest belt and detachable shoulder straps are adjusted to center the handles over the sternal wound. Handles are adjusted apart to the length of a patient's hand. The patient is instructed to squeeze the handles together with one or both hands whenever they cough, sneeze or make uncomfortable movements. When the chest belt is tightened, the chest wall is supported, stabilizing the sternal wound. This uniform encircling support provides the patient with pain relief, confidence and independence. Heart Hugger helps reduce the risk of wound complications, and speeds return to pre-op respiratory levels. It remains loose and passive until used by the patient.
