Brad Holmes —Associate Pastor of Praise & Worship
I have never liked Halloween, well, at least since I was too old to go door to door and get boatloads of free candy. As a Christian
it’s just absurd that we have a day to celebrate witches, ghosts, goblins and other so called “evil” characters. So for the last several
years, I have been on a personal mission to replace Halloween with Reformation Day. You may say, what is Reformation Day?
Well, that’s exactly why we need to observe it! Christians should know that October 31st is also Reformation Day, which celebrates
the day Martin Luther nailed his list of 95 Theses to the door of the church in Wittenberg, Germany, marking the beginning of the
Reformation movement in world history. So how do you celebrate Reformation Day? Start by googling Reformation Day or Martin
Luther. A good place to start would be There is also a recent movie about his life
named “Luther.” Rent it and watch it.Whatever you decide to do, have a great Reformation Day!

Mike Spivey — Minister to Students
Wow, God is good. I cannot stop saying that, especially after all the events that have transpired over the last couple of weeks. I
can honestly say that Molly and I are proud to be a part of Thorington Road Baptist Church. I am excited about ministering to the
students here and helping lead them into a deeper relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is not hard to see that
God in moving here at this church and I can think of no greater time to be a part of this family then now. Pray for my family as we
move and transition in a new place. As we go about this new task, we will need your prayers, encouragement, and support as we
seek to build leaders of the next generation. Thanks again church for everything. We look forward to serving you.

Judy Wilbanks — Outreach Director
We have just returned from a great week in the mountains of Tennessee. It was wonderful to be surrounded by such a majestic
show of color in God’s creation. “Oh Lord, Our Lord, how majestic is thy name in all the earth….” Psalm 8:1 It is hard to believe
that just as we are celebrating the fall season that Christmas is just around the corner. It is time for us to think about decorating
the church for the season. This year we will again order poinsettias for the worship center. If you want to purchase a poinsettia in
honor or memory of a loved one, the cost is $10.00 each. Please fill out the form in the handout Sunday, along with your check
and drop in the offering plate. Thank you, as always, for your help. You may pick up your poinsettia after worship service on
December 21st.

Emily Ballard — Co-Director to Children
While studying for my small group lesson at school, I was challenged to spend time reflecting on what God has done and
taught me from the time I was saved until now. It brought me such excitement and eagerness to see what God has in store
for us in the future. I want to thank all of you for giving me the opportunity to minister to the children. I love seeing them
walk into Sunday school and Children’s Church with smiles on their faces and hearing them learn about “Jacob and See-
saw.” There are two events coming up for our children- Powder Puff Football and the Live Nativity. Encourage your children
to sign up for each of these. Thank you again for allowing me to work with the children! Have a great week. See you
