Here Department of Veterans Affairs Employee Education System and VISN 22 VA Desert Pacific Healthcare System and Southern California Institute for Research and Education (SCIRE) present COURSE NO. 09.V22.THRS.A 4TH INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON THYROID HORMONE METABOLISM September 21, 2009 Place: Hyatt Regency Hotel 200 South Pine Avenue Long Beach, CA 90802 Phone: (562) 491-1234  To offer a timely review of various aspects of thyroid hormone metabolism and its regulation in health and disease.  To address subjects having an impact on the improvement of patient care, especially on the care of women veterans.  To discuss the treatment of thyroid disease in pregnant women and to improve the outcome of fetal development. Upon completion of the program, participants will be able to: 1. Review up to date information on the pathophysiology of thyroid hormone metabolism 2. Demonstrate improved care of patients with thyroid dysfunction, especially in a female population 3. Develop improved outcomes of pregnancy and fetal development Target Audience: Accreditation/ Approval: Physicians, psychologists and scientists who are interested in thyroid hormone metabolism and the care of patients with thyroid dysfunctions Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) The VA Employee Education System is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Purpose: Outcome Objectives: Continuing Education Credit: Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) The VA Employee Education System designates this educational activity for a maximum of 7.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s) TM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. The Employee Education System maintains responsibility for the program. A certificate of attendance will be awarded to participants and accreditation records will be on file at the Employee Education System. In order to receive a certificate from EES, participants must sign in at the beginning of this activity, complete an evaluation, attend 100% of the program, and pick up their own certificate at the conclusion of the program (certificates will not be mailed). EES cannot issue certificates for less than 100% participation as required by accrediting body regulations. This activity includes no discussion of uses of FDA regulated drugs or medical devices which are experimental or off-label. *The ACCME defines “relevant financial relationships” as financial relationships in any amount occurring within the past 12 months that create a conflict of interest.
