Video Overhead pulls out from the side of the console
This console has Video/Audio IN and OUT (BNC/RCA)
No Internal/External Microphone

                         CABLECAST INSTRUCTIONS

                     Turn on the console’s MAIN POWER SWITCH located in
                     the upper left corner of the console.



                     In the drawer of the console is the projector control.
                     Press the POWER button ONCE.
                     The projector will take about 5 seconds to warm up.

                    On the same control, press the SOURCE button below
                    the POWER button until INPUT 3 appears on screen.




                     Locate a row of silver buttons on the front of the console
                     labeled AV1 INPUT SELECTOR.
                     Press the button marked CABLE TV.



                     Locate the AMPLIFIER (above the VCR).
                     Set the Master Volume Control knob to 12 o’clock.
                     Set the AV1 Input Control knob to 9 o’clock.



                     Locate the CHANNEL SELECTOR above the drawer.
                     Use the keypad to enter your channel and press the
                     ENTER button.
                     You must press ENTER or the channel will not set.
                     Call AV at 15103 to start your broadcast.

TO SHUT DOWN: Press the POWER button on the Projector Control TWICE.
Then turn off the MAIN POWER SWITCH on the console.

                                           
                                VIDEO OVERHEAD INSTRUCTIONS
                          Turn on the console’s MAIN POWER SWITCH located in
                          the upper left corner of the console.



                           In the drawer of the console is the projector control.
                           Press the POWER button ONCE.
                           The projector will take about 5 seconds to warm up.


                           On the same control, press the SOURCE button below
                           the POWER button until INPUT 3 appears on screen.




                          Locate a row of silver buttons on the front of the console
                          labeled AV1 INPUT SELECTOR.
                          Press the button marked VIDEO OVERHEAD.


                                                         Pull out the Video Overhead and check
                                                         that the Video Overhead is on. The power
                                                         switch is on the left hand side. Press it
                                                         towards you.
                                                         Raise the light arms first.
                                                         Raise the camera head by pressing
                                                         the release button (red arrow). Raise
                                                         the arm and turn the head so the
                                                         camera points down.

                          Buttons on the front of the Overhead-
                          Red arrow: the back light for transparencies.
                          Yellow arrow: the overhead lights for opaque items.
                          Blue box: the Zoom buttons (telephoto/wide).
                          Green arrow: the autofocus button. It should be on. If it is not, press
                          this button to autofocus.
To Shut Down: Lower the Overhead Camera and Arms and slide it back into the console.
Press the POWER button on the Projector Control TWICE.
Then turn off the MAIN POWER SWITCH on the console.

                              VCR INSTRUCTIONS

                     Turn on the console’s MAIN POWER SWITCH located in
                     the upper left corner of the console.



                    In the drawer of the console is the projector control.
                    Press the POWER button ONCE.
                    The projector will take about 5 seconds to warm up.

                    On the same control, press the SOURCE button below
                    the POWER button until INPUT 3 appears on screen.




                     Locate a row of silver buttons on the front of the console
                     labeled AV1 INPUT SELECTOR.
                     Press the button marked VCR/DVD.



                     Locate the AMPLIFIER (above the VCR).
                     Set the Master Volume Control knob to 12 o’clock.
                     Set the AV1 Input Control knob to 9 o’clock.




                     Press the POWER button on the
                     VCR-
                     Insert your tape and press PLAY.

                         Remember to EJECT your
                         tape before you leave.
TO SHUT DOWN: Press the POWER button on the Projector Control TWICE.
Then turn off the MAIN POWER SWITCH on the console.
                                         
                               DVD INSTRUCTIONS

                     Turn on the console’s MAIN POWER SWITCH located in
                     the upper left corner of the console.



                     In the drawer of the console is the projector control.
                     Press the POWER button ONCE.
                     The projector will take about 5 seconds to warm up.

                    On the same control, press the SOURCE button below
                    the POWER button until INPUT 3 appears on screen.




                     Locate a row of silver buttons on the front of the console
                     labeled AV1 INPUT SELECTOR.
                     Press the button marked CABLE TV.



                     Locate the AMPLIFIER (above the VCR).
                     Set the Master Volume Control knob to 12 o’clock.
                     Set the AV1 Input Control knob to 9 o’clock.



                      Press the POWER button on the
                      VCR/DVD player-
                      Press the OPEN/CLOSE button.
                      Insert your DVD and press PLAY
                          Remember to EJECT your
                          DVD before you leave.
TO SHUT DOWN: Press the POWER button on the Projector Control TWICE.
Then turn off the MAIN POWER SWITCH on the console.

                                  CD INSTRUCTIONS
The sound system in this room is mono. It will not reproduce stereo effects.




                        Turn on the console’s MAIN POWER SWITCH located in
                        the upper left corner of the console.




                        Locate a row of silver buttons on the front of the console
                        labeled AV1 INPUT SELECTOR.
                        Press the button marked VCR/DVD.




                        Locate the AMPLIFIER (above the VCR).
                        Set the Master Volume Control knob to 12 o’clock.
                        Set the AV1 Input Control knob to 9 o’clock.




                         Press the POWER button on the
                         VCR/DVD player-
                         Press the OPEN/CLOSE button.
                         Insert your CD and press PLAY
                            Remember to EJECT your
                            CD before you leave.




TO SHUT DOWN: Turn off the MAIN POWER SWITCH on the console.

                            LAPTOP INSTRUCTIONS
                      Make sure the laptop is turned OFF.

                      Turn on the console’s MAIN POWER SWITCH located in
                      the upper left corner of the console.


                     In the drawer of the console is the projector control.
                     Press the POWER button ONCE.
                     The projector will take about 5 seconds to warm up.


                     On the same control, press the SOURCE button below
                     the POWER button until INPUT 1 appears on screen.


                     DOWN ARROW corrects cut off or jumping computer image.
                     UP ARROW activates the NO SHOW function. Projected
                     image will go black. Press again to resume.




                      Locate the VGA connector on the back of your laptop.




                     In the drawer, there is a black cable. Attach it to
                     the VGA connector on your latop.
                     Line up the connector carefully and do not force the
                     connection. There are very delicate pins inside and if
                     damaged, they can corrupt the image on screen.

                     You can tighten the screws to secure the connection.
                     Be gentle, don’t tighten them too tight.

                     TURN ON YOUR LAPTOP LAST.
                     If the computer image is cut off or jumping, press either AUTO PC
                     ADJ button on the projector control box.

TO SHUT DOWN: Press the POWER button on the Projector Control TWICE.
Then turn off the MAIN POWER SWITCH on the console.
                                              
  COMPUTER AUDIO INSTRUCTIONS




Using a mini to RCA cable (AV #33), connect the mini end to the speaker OUT on
your laptop, the RCA end to the LOCAL AUDIO IN connector on the console (red
square). Press the LOCAL INPUT button on the AV1 input selector (yellow circle)
and adjust the AV 1 INPUT CONTROL on the amplifier.

 If you want to use the internet with your own computer READ THIS FIRST:

  TO ACCESS THE INTERNET:
  Wired: Use an RJ-5 ethernet cable (AV#C-10) to connect to the data jack in
  this room. No login required.
  Wireless: Access is available in some SFSU classrooms. To connect, select
  “SFSU” from the list of available networks. Start your web browser. You will
  be redirected to a login screen. Use your SFSU email name and password.

                     LOCAL INPUT INSTRUCTIONS
External Equipment may be connected using the LOCAL INPUT Connections on the
front of the console.
NOTES:
This console uses a BNC connector for video input and RCA for audio.
Make sure you have the proper cables to connect your equipment.
This console has a MONO Amplifier. This means you will not hear stereo playback
from any device.


Turn on the console MAIN POWER SWITCH.
Turn on the projector, let it warm up and then select the INPUT 3 source.
There are three steps to attaching external equipment: (see images below)
1. Connect cables FROM your equipment TO the console’s LOCAL INPUT.
. Press the Local Input Button on the AV1 Input Selector.
3. Set the volume.
   Locate the AMPLIFIER in the front of the console
   Turn the Master Volume Control knob (blue box) to 1 o’clock.
   Turn the AV1 Input Control knob (red box) to 9 o’clock.

                 TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION
No image through the projector:

Is the Console’s MAIN POWER SWITCH ON?
Can you see a blue light coming from the projector? (If not, the projector is not on)
Is the projector in the right MODE (Input 3 for Video or Input 1 for Laptop)?
If you are using equipment in the console (VCR/DVD, Cablecast or Video Overhead)
is the proper button on the AV1 INPUT SELECTOR pressed?
If you are using the VCR/DVD player, you may need to press the VCR/DVD button
on the front of the player to switch between players.
If you are using a computer, check that the VGA cable is connected to your laptop
securely.

No Sound:

Is the Amplifier on? Look for a red light over the POWER BUTTON on the right side.
       Is the Master Volume at 1:00 and the AV1 Input Control at 9:00 or higher?
If you are using equipment in the console (Cablecast, VCR/DVD, Computer Audio,
Local Input) is the proper button on the AV1 INPUT SELECTOR pressed?
Is there audio on the tape?
Is the volume up on your laptop?

The computer image is cut off on one side or jumping:

Press the DOWN ARROW button on the Projector Control in the console drawer.
If that does not work, restart the LAPTOP.

Can’t log on to the internet:

Your ethernet cable may not be working. You may check one out from AV.
     Faculty must come to the AV Center to sign for the cable.
Your computer is not configured properly to log on to the network.
     Please go to Computing Services in ADM 110 for assistance.
The server may be down.
The wall jack in the room may be down.
Call 81494 to have someone come out and check it. No quick fix available.

If these steps do not work, call Audio Visual at 81494. Tell us:
1. What room you are in.
. What the problem is.
We will try to assist you over the phone. If that fails, we will send an AV assistant to
your classroom.
